History: While Young Justice- and Arrowette were out in space, saving
the JLA, Bonnie was quite vexed... as she had many ‘crimes’ for Cissie
to fight and mall appearances to make. She eventually found herself in
Megalopolis. Wanting to get her mind off things, Bonnie went to the
only
5 star diner in Megalopolis- Herman’s Diner.
When Bonnie got there she found that while the food was wonderful but
the place was really not managed well at all. Bonnie proceeded to
‘hire’
herself as hostess for the diner and make sweeping changes. At first
Bonnie just flirted with Herman, but then one day Bonnie’s ???, William
King came into the diner and told Bonnie that her boss was THE BLIMP-
son of CAPTAIN SWIFT. Bonnie then started flirting with Herman...
seeing
more potential there then Herman let on. William also tried to help the
couple get together, he thought that Herman’s solid slow pace might be
just what Bonnie needed.
Herman, not used to the attention of an attractive woman his own age,
was very receptive to Bonnie’s flirting and his friend’s matchmaking.
Herman feel heads over heel for Bonnie, as while he’d started being
successful with the diner he’d yet to have anyone appear even remotely
interested in HIM. Herman, however, tried to make it clear to Bonnie
that he had no interest in putting on his outfit again. He had been the
Blimp for 20 years and for Herman that was at least 10 years too long.
Bonnie did not realize Herman’s true feelings about heroing and tights
till AFTER she was pregnant with Oliver. This changed allot of her
plans. When Herman found out that Bonnie was pregnant, he proposed and
the two of them had a very modest ceremony. But not so modest that
Bonnie couldn’t invite the rest of the 5, all of Young Justice( though
she did ask Cissie not to bring ‘that hussy’ Supervixen) and the
“Arrows”( Green and Amber).
After the wedding the couple had the first of many fights. It seems
that
during the bachelor party, Herman told William that they were going to
name their son Oliver. William almost choked on his drink and then was
forced to tell Herman that Oliver was Green Arrow’s first name... and
that many people think that Ollie was Cisse’s dad. Herman agreed to
keep
their kid’s name Oliver but after that, he started trusting Bonnie a
little less...
Their next big fight spanned years and was the simple question: how to
raise young Oliver. Herman wanted to raise his kid as a nice normal
boy,
while Bonnie wanted Oliver to join his sister in YJ as soon as
possible(
or at least go to Knight Academy when it was opened). While Herman put
his foot down about Oliver going to Knight Academy he did agree on
letting Oliver( never Ollie) being trained outside of school by his
sister Cissie and his ‘uncle’ Myron(Merryman) Victor, who was now an
agent of the Competent Organization Utilizing Scientific Investigation
for National Fiend, Ruffian, and Evildoer Defense
(C.O.U.S.I.N.F.R.E.D).
For their tenth anniversary, Bonnie and Herman sent young Oliver to
have
a ‘sleep over’ with his sister so that they could have a romantic
evening alone. The romantic evening hit a major snag as Herman had to
call an ambulance... it seems that Bonnie ate some bad shell fish and
died of food poisoning. When Cissie heard about this, she left her
brother with Professor Flash and personally oversaw the investigation.
Cissie, and Myron, both reported that their was no ‘foul play’. Though
Myron Victor still wondered if Bonnie had tried to kill Herman and
botched it, he had no proof and let it slide after proving his friend
innocent.
While this investigation was going on Flash IV was trying to teach
Oliver about the speed force. Flash figured that with Oliver’s father
being Captain Swift that perhaps Oliver was also connected to the
force.
Oliver’s connection was rather... odd. Once his powers were awaken,
Oliver could fly at speeds approaching 100mph and had the ability to
slow others down. However he could not run at speeds faster then
normal,
nor make people go faster. What really surprised Flash was the nasty
side effect of Oliver’s powers. It seems that when Oliver used his
powers, he’d suffer bouts of narcalepsy.
When Flash brought Oliver home and told Herman about this.... Herman
was
furious. He pointed out that HE never wanted Oliver to go to Knight
Academy or be a superhero. Herman went so far as to threaten Flash with
a restraining order.
The next few years was spent with Father and Son having the same
arguement that Husband and Wife did. Oliver wanted to be a hero like
his
relitives and Herman wanted him to have a normal life. The only
differences in the fights was that often Herman had to tuck his son
into
bed in the middle of it, after Oliver fell asleep. At age 17, Herman
moved out of home and joined C.O.U.S.I.N.F.R.E.D While Herman wished a
different life for his son- he just wants his son to be happy... and
not
get killed while asleep.
Powers and Training: Like all of his relitives Flying Arrow is an
excellent marksman, unlike them the more he concentrates on his target
the more likely he is to fall asleep. He’s able to fly under his own
gotten his airspeed up to about 100 mph, but the faster he goes the
faster he falls asleep. He is also able to slow people and things
arround him, but again the more he uses his power the faster he’ll go
to
sleep. He is excellent at hand to hand, when awake, and has recently
started to try to sleep walk.
