Damage is a living biochemical fusion reactor that builds up a power charge through a unique hormonal process. This charge gives Damage heightened strength, durability, speed and reflexes--powers which grow in proportion to the energy charge he has built up. When Damage is unable to expend the charge he has created, the extra energy is directed outward in a massive concussive blast--an energy discharge Damage is only beginning to control.

Okay, that "energy dicharge" is a big bomb. It'll level a few blocks. When his powers are charged, his hands glow blue, and he can funnel the energy through the ground, creating spikes, which'll knock someone into the air. They can also travel behind a bad guy (such as knocking down a wall on top of them). By "duplicating a shockwave" Damage can fire a bolt of energy. By pushing this into the growned, it lifts him into the air - "flying" - he doesn't have this down very well, though.

Damage is unable to charge his powers by himself, but they seem to come with adreniline. Once he blows up, he loses his powers for a bit until he recharges.

Grant moved eight times in 4 years. The last one was to Marietta, Georgia. There, his powers mysteriously manifested themselves when he trashed a car with his bare hands. The next day, Metallo came after Grant, who held his own, until he blew up the school.

His parents ended up being stooges for Symbolix, a biochemcal company, and betrayed Grant. They were killed by the head of Symbolix, Dathan Wahrman.

Later, Grant, now calling himself Damage, allied himself with the New Titans, when he blew up half of Atlanta, and was banned from the state of Georgia. They sent him to live with the Titans, where he became friends with Bart (Impulse) Allen.

POed with the Titans, Damage left to find his origins. He found that Vandal Savage had worked with Dathan Wahrman's father in a series of biochemical projects: Telemachus, Niobe, and something else i can't remember. Damage is Telemachus. In that projcet, Vandal Savage collected DNA samples from his "encounters" with the JSA and the origianl JLA who would happen to be:

Atom I (Al Pratt)
Flash I (Jay Garrick)
Green Lantern I (Alan Scott)
Wildcat (Ted Grant)
Hawkman I (Carter Hall)
Hawkgirl (Shiera Hall)
Hourman (Rex Tyler)
Black Canary (Dinah Lance)
Dr. Mid-Nite (Charles McNider)
Starman I (Ted Knight)
Miss America (Joan Dale)
Johnny Quick (Johnny Chambers)
Liberty Belle (Libby Lawrence)
Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz - John Jones)
Flash II (Barry Allen)
Aquaman
Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance)
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Atom II (Ray Palmer)

Then, Egrin Wahrman grafted these samples to the DNA of a child who already had metagenitic potential. In this case it was Grant, the son of the original Atom. Egrin died in a warehouse fire some years later, along with the records of Project Telemachus.

Today, Grant has not been seen much, though he recently tried out for the JLA and the Teen Titans. Most recently, he has been drafted into The (new) Outsiders.
