HISTORY: An outgoing an precocious teenager, Cassie quickly became a friend and ward of Diana (a.k.a. Wonder Woman) upon their meeting -- perhaps Diana saw a bit of herself in young Sandsmark's enthusiasm and fearlessness. With only slight encouragement from Diana, and contrary to specific instructions from her mother, Helena Sandsmark, Cassie became Wonder Girl on two occasions by "borrowing" the Sandals of Hermes and the Gauntlet of Atlas, which imbued her with super-powers.
Later, responding to a summons to Olympus (the home of the gods), Cassie stole a moment's conversation with Zeus, who was so impressed with the girl's courage that he granted her "fondest wish" -- a toned-down version of Diana's super-powers. Returning to Earth and assuming the role of Wonder Girl, Cassie (and her mother) had to contend with the dangers of possessing and using such powers.
As a member of Young Justice, Cassie has undergone her fair share of disaster and heartache. She grew distant from Superboy, whom she'd grown deeply emotionally attached to. Her home was destroyed and mother hospitalized due to an assassination attempt made upon her by the Executioner--an attempt that also caused the death of her friend and teammate Force, and the insanity of her leader, Robin. But the hypertime merge perhaps had the cruelest of effects on her, leaving her a pregnant virgin with no clue as to the identity of the child's father. Cassie took a leave of absence from YJ and had her baby--a black male child.
Cassie has recently returned to the team. Spirited and determined, she is still learning how to better handle her powers.
POWERS & ABILITIES: Cassie possesses powers granted to her by Zeus, including super-human strength, the ability to fly, and more which she's still learning to use with the help of the former Wonder Woman, Artemis. However, if her mother touches her, Cassie cannot use her powers for one hour.
When needed, Cassie seeks the wise counsel of her dear friend, Donna Troy.
