Fish Photos thumbnailed

My name's Jim Day, thats me up there holding a nice calico bass at Catalina island. (which I later released) As the saying goes I wear a lot of hats, I suppose the primary one is artist, I'm a sculptor. Others include: Philosopher Welder, Mechanic, Writer, Designer, and of coarse fisherman. (some of these things I evan get paid for)

I've been fishing all my life, at least as long as I can remember. They tell me that at three my dad put a rod in my hand to stop me from crying at a local lake, and I've wanted one there ever since. By the time I was five my brother quit fishing saying I was too lucky. At eight I was routinely catching Ten pound+ catfish off my dads dock at our lake property. As a teen I met Brain Boyd one af the "near famous" Boyd fishing family of Ft. worth Texas. Brain took my intrist in fishing and raised it to a new level. For years we travaled around fishing for striped bass in the river systems of central Texas, he taught me how properly use a drag, and land large fish on light tackle. Between the two of us we litterly caught thousands of stripers. at one point I was averaging over a hundred fish a year over 10lbs, with dozens over twenty and thirty. Brain also Surf fished up and down the Texas coast. We made numerous trips to the coast, catching: Tarpon, Sharks,Jacks and Bull Reds. He was strickly a big fish kind of guy. To Brain the biggest thrill in life was a large fish stripping line of a reel. Sometimes I think having a good fishing partner is almost like being married, Brain and I fished together for years but I kind of lost track of him when I went off to Grad school in New York. Haven't seen or heard from him since. If anyone knows where Brain is: E-mail me his number, or tell him to call me. I owe him a great debt...and at least a few fishing trips.

I now live in Los Angelos, I've been here almost ten years. I still occasionally fish the surf for corbina (similar to a small redfish) or leapord sharks. The majority of my fishing is done offshore. My current partner Mike owns a 25ft Hydrosport, he owns the boat and I do the maintanence. He's a good captian and great fisherman. Latly we've been concentraiting on Yellowtatil Tuna and Marlin, Since the El-Nino~ Fishing for the peligic species have really picked up, so we're trying to hit them while there here. We've picked up some pretty good fish over the years numerous Mako's over six feet and some decent threshers up to 12' 8" I'll try to get some pictures up soon......

Still under construction More soon......................
