Key Concepts in Web Evangelism

1. Pray continually and study the Word. Take time each day to reflect on the word of God.
Prayer/Study Journals are helpful. Take note of scriptures that may be of use in witnessing.
2. Avoid a preach-amony or spiritual pride when giving a testimony.
"You need to be saved." "You are going to hell if you do not believe my way."
Focus on conveying the wondrous love of our Redeemer.
3. Be tactful and compassionate.
Matthew 15:32 and Matthew 18:33 are just
two examples of the compassion that saturated Christ's ministry.
Behind those handles, URL's and HTML's are real people
in need of our compassionate Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Please DON'T fight with people!
I don't know that a "TURN OR BURN" approach has ever won anyone to the Lord.

4. Draw a clear distinction between knowing God and
knowing about God! That distinction can make an eternal difference.
We need a Redeemer before we need a ritual.

5. Avoid speaking Christianese! "Are you born again..."
6. Avoid an all-knowing attitude (God complex). If you are anything like me,
you probably don't have ALL of the answers to the great mysteries of life either.
We don't know everything about life or about the person
we are witnessing to. Each individual has a unique set of
needs. We cannot assume that we know everything about
the person's life or situation. Also, God's love can be demonstrated
verbally and non-verbally. Providing for a person's physiological
needs can be a great tool for witnessing.
7. Do not get caught up in doctrinal debates. "_____is the one true church..."
Most poeple who belong to a church believe that they belong to the "one true church."
Always direct the conversation back to salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
I realize that this is a rough outline (more like a do's and don't's list)
but these are common elements that arise and can easily detract from the Gospel message.
Two more things to add to the "do" list.
Love people and rely on the Holy Spirit for guidence! (See 1 Cor. 2:4-5)

F.A.Q's

Q. The InterNet is huge! Where do I begin?
A. Check out chat rooms, message boards, e-mail, build your own Christian website etc...

Q. How do I give a testimony?
A. There is no specific format that you must follow. If you are a bit nervous about giving your
testamony, particularly in a group setting, you may want to write down your experieces. One
suggestion would be to talk briefly about your life before you came to Christ, how you came to
know Christ and how your life has since changed. Try not to use your notes, especially in a one-
on-one setting. Just write things down to organize your thoughts. A good closing statement might
be a favorite scripture or "life verse." Summarize how it applies to your testamony.
You don't have to preach a sermon.
