Author Henlee H. Barnette, in his book Introducing Christian Ethics writes:
It is the duty of the Christian in a democractic community to: (1) be intelligent, to understand the nature and process of government; (2) participate in the selection of pubilc officials and the formation of public policy; (3) work for the extension of justice, freedom, and equality to all citizens, regardless of race, color, or creed; (4) serve in places of political leadership for which one is qualified, regardless of the cost and criticism which may be forthcoming; (5) challange and criticize any force in society which tends to deny basic human rights or to run counter to the claims of God; (6) align himself with a church and other constructive forces which seek to strengthen the spiritual and moral fiber of the individual and the nation.
