Then one day I was out with my girlfriend Karen hunting down Beanie Babies. On our drive back to work I said to
Karen, "wouldn't it be neat to give out Beanie Babies as our favors"? I didn't think it would be possible to do
because most stores limit you to 2 current Beanie Babies and 1 retired Beanie Baby. I sat at work wondering how
in the world I could gather us 60 Beanie Babies to hand out to our guests.
On our drive home after work, I mentioned to George my idea and he loved it! We stopped in at a ice cream store
called Casey's to check out their Beanie Babies. They had just got a shipment in and had the beanies that I wanted
to give to our guests...Roary the Lion and Sly the Fox, better known to us as "anon.bigcat" and "anon.Cyberfox3".
We told the owner of the store, Chris, what our intentions were and asked if there was any way that she could sell
us 30 foxes and 30 lions. She was able to help us collect all the beanies that we needed for our wedding. Things
were just falling right into place!
Our next mission was to find a store that could provide us with the ribbons that we would need to tie around the
Beanies. It took a bit of doing, but we were finally able to locate a shop in the Pruneyard shopping center. I
called my Bridesmaid Veronica, my Maid-Of-Honor Mayra, my mom, and my friend Karen to see if they could all join
me in making the favors. We all gathered at my mom's house in Milpitas, California and started tying on the ribbons (Mayra
was unable to attend due to the flu).
By the way Mary Beth's Beanie World Monthly magazine will be doing an article on this in their August issue. Check it out!
I would like to give a special THANK YOU to Veronica Cullen (My Bridesmaid/Niece), Karen Butler (my friend), and Barbara Bowman (my mom) for their time and patience in helping make my wedding favors!
Finally finished we proudly display our hard work
