2. Support for larger/other media formats or hard drives via SCSI
3. The ability to use the SCSI port as the "current" drive
4. More efx/another FX board so you can have more that one effect at once
5. Control Start/Stop sampling via footswitch
6. Implement automatic equal divisions in "SAMPLE DIVIDE" menu. (auto divide sample into 2, 4 ,8 ,16, 32 equal pieces for loops rework)
7. Pitchbend/timechange assignable to the knobs (maybe it could be done as an added effect [if thats even possible] like those Digitek whammy II pedals)
8.Simultaneous play and
record on the sample pads (like so you can listen to one pad playing its
loop while you record onto another)
9. Ability to Crossfade
10. More footcontrol options - via MIDI footcontroller? (for the last two think of an Oberheim Echoplex)
11. Ability to _add_ time to samples while in trim mode (instead of only being able to subtract it)
12. Realtime sample length/ (loop point) control and realtime timestretch control assignable to the effect knobs ,assignable to individual pads
13. The SP-202 Dr. Sample can realtime time stretch.....Why not the 808?
14. OS feature which would disable SAMPLING button, it's so close to HOLD, that I pressed it several times, and it stops the playback from the pads. A major stuff-up if one does it live.
15. a way of putting the 808 into sleep mode manually. I don't mean ejecting the disk, either!
16. That may be non software'able but what the heck. Four faders, four pad rows................ What if each fader controlled 1 row of pads (1 to 4, 5 to 8 etc.). What lovely fades we could come up with.
17. Right now when you eject the disk the line input sound is cut off. This means that there is always a break in the music when you change disks. Sound such as a CD player, dat, synth or whatever should still pass through the SP-808 uninterrupted while changing disks so your musical flow can continue.
18 I would like an assignable volume fader probably in the effects section. Right now you can change banks without any interruption in sound as long as you put one pad on hold when you change pad banks. With assignable volume the first knob would control the volume of the pad on hold in the bank you are currently exiting. The second knob would control the pad on hold of the bank you would be working with next. This would enable you to do smooth crossfades while working with the pads.
19.(WISH they would include
what they advertise...) On a visit to my local Roland dealer I picked up
something called the "Groove Gear Catalog", it's got all the groove range
in it including the SP808. Anyway I was reading the blurb about the 808
and in a box at the top it says and I quote "Advanced Remixing Features.
the SP-808 gives you lots of intelligent features designed to speed up
every stage of the remix process. A BPM (tempo) calculator senses the repeated
bass and drum patterns from audio and sampled material and automatically
sets the internal tempos accordingly.
20. As it stands the 808's pads will not sound when pressed if all four audio tracks have been sequenced/recorded on. It would be understandable this if it was only when the sequenced samples were playing, but you are even prevented from using the pads during blank spaces in the sequence. At the moment, if you want to play a sequence AND play the pads, you must leave at least one track entirely blank. This is not cool. Come on Roland, this has got to be easy to fix....(we hope....)
