Vanessa's Herb Page!

I love growing plants, especially herbs. Herbs are easy to grow, but living in the city I have to resort to growing mine in containers on my windowsill. My favorites are chives, basil, lemon balm... I could go on and on...

Herbs are very healthy plants. They don't die easily and even the most novice of gardeners can grow them. The only thing that could kill herbs is over watering them or drowning their roots. The best way to overcome this is to plant them in those clay or terracotta pots. They are cheap, they look nice, and they absorb the excess water, although you may have to water your herbs a little more often if they are in clay pots.

The word "herb" comes from the old Sanskrit bharb, meaning to eat, which later became herba in Latin, meaning grass or fodder. Herbs are distinguishable from other plants and flowers because their stems don't become woody. Herbal magick, or wortcunning as it was/is know by country folk, is an essential part of magick-making, wort being the original Saxon word for herb.

A Witches Garden - This is a list of my favorite herbs and some thing you should know about them.

There are some really great herb and gardening pages out there and these are the ones that I found to be interesting and informative. Take a look.
