Introduction...


Greetings, I'd just like to take this opportunity to introduce you to my city. Victoria-Web User, Web User-Victoria. That's right, I live in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The city is located on the southeast tip on Vancouver Island which is situated on the west coast of Canada in the Pacific Ocean. I have lived here for 18 of my 22 years on this earth. I had a four year jaunt in my nation's capital city, Ottawa, Ontario. I like it here. It is dull at times, but I do have good times thanks to great friends.

Now for a little bit of history. Victoria was first incorporated in 1862 and was named the capital city of B.C. in 1871 (four years after Canada's confederation). Please continue reading for an information grab-bag...


Famous Events...

- Not known to many but Victoria was actually the first landing spot for Christopher Columbus in 1492.
- In 1969, Victoria held a little wee peace music festival. You have heard of it, Woodstock. Victoria rejected the thought of holding the sequel because it was far too commercialized.
- Upon the completion of the construction of Mount Rushmore came a huge uproar. Victorians were not too happy of letting it move to South Dakota, but obviously they finally gave in.
- The Titanic's navigational systems were highly malfunctioning before it hit the now infamous iceberg. The vessel was actually sank off the west coast of Canada and not the east coast as historians seem to want you to believe.
