WWF Rumors and News

RUMORS FOR THIS WEEK: UPDATED DECEMBER 12 1999
  • Reports are saying that we won't see anymore GTV stuff.
  • In his latest Ross Report, Jim Ross said, and I quote "Some very creative rumors going around on the Internet about Eric Bischoff coming to work as a TV character on WWF broadcasts. These are absolutely untrue, albeit somewhat humorous rumors. But remember, sports fans, never say never in this business." Right, never say never, and we've know what that means by now!
  • If you order Armageddon on PPV, you can send your cable or satellite bill indicating proof of purchase and you will get a free Armageddon License Plate. Simply mail in your copy of the bill to: WWF Armageddon Offer, PO Box 5488, Rockville Center, New York 11571-5488. Requests must be received by Feb. 29, 2000. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.
  • World Wrestling Federation champion The Big Show has a new site, part of the WWF.com subsites. No domain or anything just a nice simple website at http://www.wwf.com/subsites/bigshow/index.html
  • There are now over 50 photos available at WWFNY.COM of the new entertainment complex which is found in New York. Very nice restaurant, check the pics out at http://www.wwfny.com . Neighbours of the WWF complex are the Chase Bank and MTV. They couldn't find a better place!
  • There are several reports on the internet regarding the future of the Blue Meanie in the WWF. Some say he's on the way out, some say he's not goin anywhere blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. Scherer says that he's been put on hold till Stevie Richards comes back from the leg injury.
  • The newest employee of the WWF Trish Stratus 'landed' on WWF.com today. There are several pictures of this new hot chick on the official WWF site.
  • Mr Ass Billy Gunn is in taping some scenes for the show "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch". Star of the show is Melissa Joan Hart, from the "Clarissa Explains It All" fame. The show will air on Friday, February 4th.
  • Tons of fans voted WWF.com as the best live events production at the recent awards by Streaming Media West. Lucas and Jimmy from WWF.com and producer Jim Vaughan are in San Francisco to accept the award. WWF.com says that they won by an overwhelming margin.
  • Mick Foley has an interview up on WWF.com. First he thanked all his fans for buying his "Have A Nice Day" book. He said that the retiring announcement he made on "Off The Record" was premature, and he won't be going anywhere for the time being. He said that he talked with McMahon and they decided he shouldn't retire while Austin is on the shelf.
  • The recent orange and black lightning and the logo on the WWFE Tron indicates the soon to arrive Taz! Taz will be debuting with the WWF this coming January and the WWF are already putting signs of him during their programming. Look for the logo to appear again on tonight's Smackdown!
  • There are some interesting comments being shot back and forth between the British Bulldog, Bret Hart and the Dynamite Kid right now as the result of the Bulldog being back in the WWF and as a result of Dynamite Kid's book. In the book, Dynamite Kid talks about smoking crack with Bret Hart and the Junk Yard Dog while on the road in the WWF. This could be the comment that made Bret Hart fire back in his recent Calgary Sun column in which he made the comment about Dynamite Kid injuring his brain as well as his elbows, knees and back. The book also takes shots at the Bulldog throughout the book and the Bulldog has responded in an interview conducted by Slam Wrestling. Full coverage of this feud is available at SLAM Wrestling as well as DynamiteKid.com
  • The PTC continues their quest to censor the World Wrestling Federation and so far have done an effective job. Since campaigning the WWF has lost sponsers which have resulted in their stock falling heavily this past 30 days. The PTC has also led to a toned down Smackdown as the WWF has decided to rate the show PG-13. Also based on this Monday's Raw, it seems clear that Raw was also toned down quite a bit; at least in the first hour. It is interesting that WCW has yet to recieve any critism from the PTC or sponsers, despite their more risque show. Of course in fairness to WCW their language and adult content is less controversial then that of the WWF; however one has to notice issues with racism, violence against women and increased sexuality on WCW programming under the new writers.
  • There are strong rumours that Eric Bischoff is trying to get out of his WCW contract. There is some debate as to why he is doing this. Some argue that it is to work for the WWF, while others say it is to work elsewhere, possibly in Hollywood. Bischoff is still under contract to Turner Sports for somewhere in the million dollar range. He has at least two years left on his current contract. A lot of people have been dying to see a feud between WWF and WCW surface, and it is clear that a Bischoff vs. McMahon feud would be one that could result in an angle bigger then Austin/McMahon and bigger then the NWO. If the WWF or Eric Bischoff have any interest at this point however is very much unknown.
  • Sean Stasiak has been fired (suspended indefinetly) for unprofessional conduct according to WWF.com. The reason is that he recorded a lot of private conversations on road trips and in the lockerroom of fellow wrestlers and WWF personelle. Don't expect him to return anytime soon.
  • Ahmed Johnson is apparently trying to get back with both companies, however there is no interest on the part of the WWF or WCW. ECW is most likely not an option either.
  • The Ultimate Warrior is not in negotiations with either company and is still involved in a legal battle with the WWF. As of right now it looks as though the WWF will win this battle.
  • The WWF has not gotten any official word from Paul Heyman about the use of Shawn Michaels within ECW. Michaels was rumoured to be interested to work a few dates with ECW in order to help out his friend Justin Credible in an angle with Raven/Dreamer as well as to build contacts to bring in his students from his wrestling school. WWF.com reports that Michaels will be back on WWF television in a big way very soon.
  • Ken Shamrock and the Undertaker should also be active with the WWF by January at the latest.
  • There is talk that Papi Chulo will be repackaged and given a push with former ECW valet Angelica.
  • Barbara Bush will now be taking an active role in the WWF woman's division. BB has been employed with the WWF as their "paramedic" for quite some time now. Trish Stratus should also be debuting soon with the WWF.
  • The WWF has signed Kansas City sportscaster Jonathan Coachman to a contract. Coachman will now be announcing for the WWF in some capacity.
  • Wrestling impressionist Jason Sensation made his wrestling debut with the AWF based out of Toronto. Sensation is still under WWF contract and has been training with Ron Huchison, the trainer of Edge these past few months. All reviews seem to be positive regarding Sensation's debut.
  • Expect Gillberg to make his return to the WWF soon. This could be used as a counter to WCW's assault with Oklahoma. Oklahoma will also be toning down at least his facial expressions due to complaints from people with Bells Palsy made to Time Warner.
  • Stone Cold Steve Austin's surgery date has been moved up from February 17th to January 27th. This could allow him time to recouperate enough to at least be a special guest announcer, or some other non-physical role at Wrestle- Mania 2000. There is still not much hope that he would actually be wrestling in the big event.
  • Chris Jericho will be participating in the upcoming NY Rangers super- skate. This celebrity hockey game will be played to help benefit the Christopher Reeve foundation. Jericho's father is a former NHL star.
