SCPASA Minutes 
October 12, 1997 


I.  Call to Order of SCPASA was called by Chair Jerry Torne on Sunday,
October 12, 1997 at 1:03 p.m. at CSUF's University Center..

II.  Roll Call: (12 schools present) Cal Poly Pomona, Occidental, CSUSM,
CSUN, UCI, UCR, UCLA, Cerritos, Pasadena City, CSUSB, LMU, and
SDSU..

III. Old Business
Registration Forms-There are still several schools who have not turned in
their
SCPASA registration forms. Please see Cathy if your school hasn't turned
it in..
We must have all the names of your new board for '97-'98 term..
Elections-Elections were held for the Treasurer, Social Chair, Community
Chair, and Internal P.R. Rep. Each candidate gave a brief speech on why
he/she
should be elected for the position prior to the election process. After
the votes
were tallied, winners were announced. A big CONGRATULATIONS to the
following new SCPASA officers:
                Treasurer-      Genie Gapud (UCI)
                Social Chair-   Eric Songco (Cal Poly Pomona)
                Community Chair- Cecile Ramones (SDSU)
                Internal P.R. Rep-  Jun Cruz  (Cerritos)

IV. New Business-A motion was made by Arnel Dino to open nominations for
the 2 remaining vacant positions on the SCPASA board; Cal Poly Pomona
second the motion.  Again, nominees were nominated for the two positions..
Candidates nominated must confirm their nomination by October 23 via
e-mail
or to Jerry or Jon. A brief statement was given by each school rep for
their
nominee on his/her qualifications for the position. Each candidate will be
responsible for giving a short speech at the October 26 meeting at CSUN..

VI.  New Business
Friendship Games will take place on Saturday, October 18. There will be a
Pre-FG bonfire at Huntington Beach at Piers 13-16. Registration at the
games
will begin at 6:30 a.m. The after-party will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the UC
Pavilion. Tickets must be pre-purchased. No tickets will be sold at the
door..

VII. School Announcements:  (MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!)
NFAYA-The next National Filipino-American Youth Association Conference
will take place on August 6-9, 1998 in Chicago. See Arnel Dino for more
info..
UCLA-They will be hosting their "First Annual Pilipino Community Festival"
on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the UCLA Sunset Recreation
Center. For more info call 310.825.2727. The event is FREE..
CSUN-Planning to hold an after Friendship Games Party. On Friday, October
17, keynote speakers Fred and Dorothy Cordova will be at the S.S.U..
Fernandeno Room from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m..
On Saturday, November 1, they will be hosting a "Rally in the Valley"
Softball
Tourney..
SDSU-They will be hosting a High School Conference on Saturday, October
25..
LMU-Friday, October 24 they will be having their 3rd Annual HALO-
HALOween Jam at the St. Roberts Auditorium. For more info call
