The Sailormoon R movie plot is a little more complex then the others. The movie starts out with Mamoru giving a rose away to a little boy who says that he'll return with lots of flowers, and then he disappears. Eventually the boy returns all grown up and seems to feel an unhealthy relationship with Mamoru and he doesn't want anybody else to be Mamoru's friend especially Sailormoon who he think is evil. His feelings are not completely his, however, he was under the influence of an evil flower, Kisenian.
In the middle of the movie, Fiore tries to kill Sailormoon but only succeeds in accidentally killing Mamoru who he takes back to a meteor in the sky which has all of Kisenian's seeds on it. The story about Kisenian is, is that she is an evil flower who takes control of people with a weak will and makes them do what she wants. In this case, Kisenian is trying to breed and she is going to destroy the Earth by scattering her flowers all of the planet. When Fiore took Mamoru to the meteor he healed him and began to tell him of his loneliness. Meanwhile, the Sailor senshi teleported to the meteor where everyone but Sailormoon was captured. Fiore then told Sailormoon that she could either continue killing his flowers and have her friends die (which is what the senshi wanted her to do) or give up.
Despite her friends pleas, Sailormoon dropped her scepter and gave up. Fiore was so astounded by this that he almost broke out of Kisenians spell. Almost. The Kisenian convinced him that Sailormoon was evil and that she was trying to trick him. Fiore drained her energy and was about to kill her when he was struck by a rose. Fiore couldn't believe that his friend had done that and he felt that Mamoru had deserted him. At the end of the film Fiore tries to crash the meteor into Earth. Sailormoon uses her silver crystal to not only destroy most of the meteor, but also Kisenian. During this, Fiore remembers that the rose that Mamoru had given him was the same rose that Usagi had given Mamoru. While she as using the crystal though, it broke and Sailormoon died. But since everything had to end nicely, Fiore gave her some nectar from a flower and the crystal came back and Sailormoon was revived.
By the way, the ending song, Moon Revenge, is very good if you like the fast paced kind of music. It's sounds really good when you don't know what they're saying, but as soon as you get some translations of the lyrics you realize that's it such a weird song.
One interesting tidbit of information is that in Italian "Fiore" means flower. Actually, Naoko Takeuchi talks about that as well as some other things that have to do with symbols in the R movie. I just wish I could remember what they were...
