Hino Rei first transformed into Sailormars when she and Usagi were sucked into a time warp by the Dark Kingdom. A monster in there tried to strangle Rei, when she transformed and destroyed the monster with Sailormoon's help.

Rei is the soldier of fire and is exttremly hot-tempered (no pun intended) She is very bossy and even appeared to be the leader of the senshi in a few episodes. Although she gets annoyed Usagi and therefore they constantly fight, she is one of Sailormoon's closest friends when things start to get rough.

Rei lives with her granfather at his temple where she practices Shinto (an extremly popular religion in Japan) Rei is a femal exorcist who can read fires. She exorcises evil spirits with her anti-evil scrolls, also called Ofuda scrolls.

A Note about Ofuda Scrolls

Before using the srcolls, Rei says, "Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Sai, Zen. She then locks her hands into nine forms according to the sounds. She then says, "Akuryo Taisan", which means 'evil spirit, begone!' The kanji for this is written on the scroll.

> This spell is called "Ka-Ji no I", the spell of the nine characters. This exorscism was mostly used for the luck of the fight in Japan. Ninja's were also said to hav used this.

The meanings of the Kanji are:

PYOU: soldier

TOU: fight; to fight

SHA: man; people

KAI: all; whole

JIN: formation; postion; camp

RETSU: column; row; line

SAI: existence; to exist

ZEN: front; in front of; before; pre-

Fire Soul

Mars' main attack. She puts her fingers close together and yells this as fire shoots out from her fingers.

Ofuda Scrolls(used throughout all the seasons)

Fire Soul Bird

In this attack, Mar's creates a bird out of fire and directs it to her opponents.

Burning Mandala

Sailormars creates several balls of fire around and then directs them at her opponant.

In this attack, Super Sailormars creates a bow and arrow out of fire and then shoots it at her enemy.
