Welcome to the CB lingo portion of this web-page.
How did I get interested in this sort of
thing? Well I remember a long time ago driving with my
father through the rythmic sands of the Anza Borego desert
(Anza, which refers to the De Anza expition and Borego, which
is Spanish for: Long-horn mountain sheep.). The other people
we were with happened to have two CB units. Throughout our
travels in the mountionous eddies, I started to pick-up the
lingo that was spoken over the radio. Slang like, "Jake, Pick
up the mail" or "hitn' the home 20" made me wonder what they
ment. Well now I know, in fact I know a lot more. I've
decided to put this page up so that if there is someone with
an intrest like mine, they will have an eaiser time finding
out what all that cool jargon is about.
The Lingo
The CB'er
Ace =Important CB'er
Apple =A Person hooked on the CB
Bear Bait= CB'ers who are in the lead
Boast Toasties= An expert CB'er
Bootlegger= An unlicened CB'er
Breaker= Asking to speak on a channel
Cartel= A bunch of CB'ers monopolizing a channel
Chain Gang= Members to a CB club
Coffee break= Unarranged CB social gathering
Cradle baby= CB'er who fears asking for standby
Finger= CB channel hopper
Fog lifter= Interesting CB'er
Fugitive= A CB'er who chooses to talk on a channel other
than the favorite=
Geological Survey= A CB'er looking under his CB
Getting out= Being heard
Going horizontal= Going to bed
Good Buddy= Fellow Cb'er (Be careful who you say this to,
it can have a bad connotation
Good Neighbor= Fellow CB'er (Now a days this is accepted as the proper
word to say)
Goon Squad= People who hog the channels
Hag feast= A bunch of female CB'ers on a channel
Hamster= Somone Hamming on a CB
Handle= A slang name used to identify the CB'er
Henchmen= A group of CB'ers
Hung up= CB Junkie
Jamboree= Gathering of CB'ers brought by a CB club
Junvenile Delinquent= A person pretending s/he is a trucker
Modulate= To talk with
Moth ball= Annual CB convention
OM= Old man (CB'er)
Ratchet Jaw= Continuous talker
Savages= Channel Hog
Slave drivers= CB'ers who take over a channel
Sonnet= Someone who advertises products on the air
Stepped on you= When another person transmitted the same time you did
Stroller= CB'er using a walkie talkie
Struggle= Trying to talk on a channel
Sunbeam= A CB'er who lights up the air with humor
Tearjerker= A CB'er who always seems to talk about bad times
Thin man= A CB'er with weak transmission
Twin pots= CB'er who has two CB's from the same company
Wind Jammer= A long-winded CB'er
