There are a few changes and updates to this page
now. First of all, I finally made a menu that I liked. I added some new pictures,
even another picture page because there are too many on the first page. The videos are
done and you can play them as long as you spend that hour or so downloading the program to
watch them. Sorry about that everybody. All of the profiles are pretty much done. Thanks
to all of you who have helped me out with them cuz ya, I didn't write them all. Thank you
all who have pointed out to me that the word "coming" was misspelled (yes, all 4
of you). There won't be anything coming up for a while though, I'm sorry to say. In the
shoutouts, if I missed you, I'm truly sorry, just call me up and yell at me or
something. You all can still sign our guestbook. Please sign our guestbook because we like
to hear from you all, no matter what the comments (good or bad) and please just push send
once. It'll get through. Thank you all for visiting Non-Stop's Homepage.
Originating from a small town out in the desert
farmland called Oxnard, 15 minutes away from the beach, they all went to school at Channel
Islands High School and started a school dance team for the 1996-1997 school year. Twelve
people went through weeks of try-out practices. Nine made it, then two quit. This All-Male
dance team now comprised of these seven unstoppable fellas known as Jason Allen, Brian
Reyes, Marvin Mayo, Fred David, Lew Soratorio Jr., Brian Mayo, and Stephen Ramos went
through a whole summer of practicing jazz techniques all on their own. Yes, they know how
to do pirouettes, toe touches, axles, and center leaps. They were practicing this because
the team was initially intended to be a Co-Ed dance team. So yeah, they have their jazz
down. They never had a dance instructor or a choreographer so practicing these techniques
were very hard for them. All they had was the knowledge that Jason, Brian and Brio had
from their previous year of being on the team and the new members had no experience at any
of this at all.
Their first performance came at the end of the
summer for a friend's 18th Birthday Party in Oxnard. Everybody was nervous. Mainly because
it was their first time performing together as a team. The performance was "ok"
and someone out there has it taped, but I don't know who. Then came the first competition
in San Diego at Knott's Berry Farm along with the school's Drill team. If you don't know
what that is, I can't explain it to you. They rented hotel rooms at the Marriott, then
performed their "All-Male" routine. They couldn't perform the "Co-Ed"
routine yet because the girls didn't try out yet. They all had fun at the competition, at
the theme park, and especially at the hotel (right Jason?!).
So, as the season went on, the All-Male team, the
Co-Ed team and the Drill team continued to practice, practice, practice everyday
afterschool, sometimes until late at night. They would practice from 3:30 to about 5:30
with punishments if they were late (I don't want to get into telling you about the
punishments because they were kind of weird). Two hours of practice afterschool, that
doesn't seem bad right, but what people don't believe is that sometimes (actually, a lot
of times), especially between competitions (or comps as we called them), they would come
back at 7:00 to practice again until who knows when. It was hectic, but well worth it.
Their lives practically revolved around practice. Everything they did outside of the team
had to be scheduled around the scheduled practices. It wasn't as bad as it seems though.
They still had fun.
Finally, at the end of the school year, Non-Stop
performed for the first time for the "Asian Scene" at Cal State Fullerton's
dance showcase. Again, nervous and opening up for the already well known beautiful and
talented dance team "Remix", they "tore it up" as some would say. The
crowd went wild, giving the boys the energy and strength they needed to pull through (they
love it when the crowd is loud). There they met representatives of SNG (Sounds N Grooves),
who asked them to perform for their all ages party "Anutha Tantrum" which they
performed for after they won first place at Pomona's Import ShowOff car show the weekend
before.
Non-Stop has won many, many awards. Exceptional
awards come from the Drill Team USA and USA Nationals All-Male and Co-Ed Dance team
Champions of 1997. Then going on to be May1997's car show Import ShowOff's Dance Krew
Champions in Pomona where they were first discovered and going on to win January 1998's
Import Exclusive Dance Krew contest in Anaheim. Since then, this dynamic group has gone on
to perform for an NBA halftime show between the L.A. Lakers and the Golden State Warriors,
has opened for the DJ Quick, 2nd to None, Rodney "O" and Joe Cooley AMG concert.
Non-Stop has won many Championship Places and has performed numerous events all over
Southern California including College events at such places as UCLA, CSUF, CSULB, theme
parks such as Knott's Berry Farm, Sea World and Wild Rivers, and various other high
schools.
