Pete Rugolo CDs with Maynard Ferguson

PETE RUGOLO AND HIS ORCHESTRA, INTRODUCING ... / ADVENTURES IN RHYTHM -- Collectables COL-5893

I just couldn't believe it when this CD was released back in 1998. They took Pete Rugolo's first two albums on the Columbia label, Introducing Pete Rugolo and Adventures in Rhythm, and they put them both on a single CD. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time these LPs were ever placed on CD commercially. Maynard is featured prominently on both LPs, so this is a super compilation CD. You can hear him screaming away in the stratosphere on several tracks.

Here's a Pete Rugolo album from 2007. Maynard recorded this album with Rugolo in the 1950s, and it's rereleased here. You can hear Maynard prominently on Good Evening Friends Boogie and screaming on King Porter Stomp and Jingle Bells Mambo.

PETE RUGOLO AND HIS ORCHESTRA, ADVENTURES IN JAZZ (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sound Records FSR 2213

Here's a Spanish 2-CD set from 2006 featuring MF with Pete Rugolo's orchestra on a number of tracks. MF is present on the tracks from 2/8, 2/22, 4/28, 4/29, 5/10, 6/21, and 7/8/54, as well as 2/22/55. Great west coast jazz recorded in Hollywood.

Here's another great Pete Rugolo CD from 1999 which combines two of his early LPs. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time these LPs were ever placed on CD commercially, and it may be the last.
