Billy May LPs with Maynard Ferguson
BILLY MAY, THE BEST OF BILLY MAY AND HIS ORCHESTRA (UK RELEASE) –- Music for Pleasure MFP 5609
As most of you know, MF recorded the track "Hi-Fi" with the Billy May Orchestra back on 5/26/54 (Capitol recording session #3455). It found its way onto this Billy May "greatest hits" LP from England back in the 1980s. The liner notes on this LP are excellent, and it includes a complete discography, listing MF on this tune along with Conrad Gozzo, Pete Candoli, etc. Extremely hard to find here in the U.S.
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this LP I've ever had for sale on this website. The cover on this one has a 1" seam crack at top center, but this is the only flaw on this splendid, NMINT cover. The vinyl appears to have been played precisely once. It's a superb NMINT++! Overall, this is a super, NMINT+ copy, priced at $17.00.
VARIOUS ARTISTS, ARTHUR MURRAY FAVORITES: DANCE SET –- Capitol T281
As most of you know, MF recorded the track "Hernando's Hideaway" with the Billy May Orchestra back on 5/26/54 (Capitol recording session #3455). It found its way onto this Arthur Murray compilation dance LP a few months later. It's a Mambo, and is included in the Mambo section of the LP. This is actually a very hard LP to find. I seldom see one for sale.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is quite clean and nice. It's got an original price sticker on the back and a little surface wear, but it's still a relatively clean and nice cover, rating an EX++. The vinyl is a decent EX-. It's $11.00.
