Maynard Ferguson LPs 1970 - 1982 (Columbia Era)

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN -- Columbia C30466

Recorded 2/70. This is the ORIGINAL album cover from 1970, with a photo of MF in a business suit sitting on a white stool. It's about five times harder to find than the re-issue cover version.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has some of the typical record ring wear, front and back. There's also some fading along the spine, and there's a name written on the front cover at upper right. So this cover is just VG to VG+. The vinyl has several scuffs visible. I'd rate it as EX-. Overall, this copy is in the VG+ to EX- range. Just $5.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN (CANADIAN RELEASE) -- Columbia C30466

Recorded 2/70. This is the ORIGINAL album cover from 1970, with a photo of MF in a business suit sitting on a white stool. It's about five times harder to find than the re-issue cover version. AND ... this is the Canadian version, which is about 10 times harder to find that the U.S. version. Truly a very, very rare LP. I've only seen two.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has some of the typical record ring wear on the front, and a bit of roughness on the upper seam. It's an EX cover. The vinyl has several very light surface scratches, but it plays very nicely. I'd rate it as EX, too. Overall, this copy is a solid EX. It's $10.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN -- Columbia C30466

Recorded 2/70. This is the RE-ISSUE album cover from about 1972, with a photo of MF in a brown suede jacket and with a purple tie-dyed tie.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is really super, and looks like new. On close examination, it does have a 1" spine crack at top center, and a slight discoloration in the upper right-hand corner where a price sticker was removed. You really have to look closely to even see these problems -- it's still an EX+ cover. The vinyl is EX++. Overall, this one is at least EX+. $5.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has a bit of the typical record ring wear, both front and back. I'll rate it as EX. The vinyl is NMINT+ on one side, but does has some surface scratches on the other side which create a little background noise in places. Let's call the vinyl EX, as well. Overall, this is a solid, EX copy. $4.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows some very light record ring wear, and there's just a little spine wear, as well. Nevertheless, it's a very nice copy, in EX+ condition. The vinyl is conservatively NMINT-, tending toward NMINT. Overall, this is a very nice copy, in EX++ or better condition. $6.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this copy has just the very slightest toning along the opening slit, but it's minimal. The cover is still easily NMINT. The vinyl has some light scuffs and very fine surface scratches. It's EX. Overall, this copy is EX++. $10.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this copy has some of the typical record ring wear, both front and back, and there's a nick on the top seam, and another nick on the bottom seam. It's EX-. The vinyl is EX+ to NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX. Yours for $4.00.
COPY #6. The cover on this one has a rectangular stain and a tiny bare spot at upper right where a price sticker once resided. There's also a bit of record ring wear visible on the front, but the backing paper is ultra clean and nice. I'd rate this cover as EX. The vinyl, on the other hand, is a super clean and nice NMINT. Overall, this copy is EX++. It's yours for $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE WORLD OF MAYNARD FURGUSON (SIC) (JAPANESE RELEASE) -- Epic EPCL-89

Recorded 2/70. This is the Japanese release of M.F. Horn, with a totally different title, different label and catalog number, and different cover. The cover is a gatefold. This LP comes in two versions. The early copies had Ferguson misspelled as "Furguson" on the cover and labels. This is one of those earlier copies. (Later, they issued the same exact album but with the misspelling corrected.) On this one, there's a picture of a street with an old-fashioned lamp post and a red building. In my experience, these are probably 20 times as rare as the U.S. versions. You can't even find them in Japan any more without going to extreme troubles, and the prices are steadily climbing. I guess it's just a matter of supply and demand.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE WORLD OF MAYNARD FERGUSON (U.K. RELEASE) -- CBS S64101

Recorded 2/70. This is the UK release of M.F. Horn, with a totally different title, different catalog number, and different cover. On this one, Maynard is sitting in the grass, leaning against a tree, playing his trumpet. There's a saddled horse (obviously an English riding saddle) and hunting dog next to him. Looks like he just dismounted during the fox hunt to relax and play a few bars. In my experience, these are probably 20 times as rare as the U.S. versions. You can't even find them in England any more without going to extreme troubles, and the prices are steadily climbing. I guess it's just a matter of supply and demand.
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this copy has a little spine wear and a couple of minor creases. Still, it's a clean and nice cover, and rates an EX++ to NMINT-. The vinyl is clean and shiny, with just a couple of surface scuffs visible. It's NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. A relatively rare and important LP from the UK, $18.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has some definite record ring wear, a minor corner bend, and quite a bit of seam wear. It's EX-. The vinyl has a few scuffs and light surface scratches, but it plays fine. It's EX. Overall this copy is EX- to EX. $11.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, GRAMMY AWARDS: THE BIG BAND SOUND -- The Franklin Mint GRAM 7

The Franklin Mint is one of those collectables societies that issues limited edition collectables. A few years ago, they issued this 4-LP boxed set of Grammy Award-winning big band sounds. Included is MF with two tracks from MF Horn: If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind, and Eli's Comin'. These are really nice sets. They come in a sturdy silver-colored box, the sleeves are top-of-the-line anti-static plastic, there's an included booklet with photos and bios of the musicians, and it's very nicely made. I understand these sold for $139.99 when new. Frankly, I don't think that's a reasonable price, even though the quality is outstanding, so you won't pay that here!!!!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, JAZZ PANORAMA (BULGARIAN PRESSING) -- Balkanton BTA 1379

This is a Bulgarian complilation LP with 10 tunes, including MF on Eli's Comin'. For you purist collectors out there that want a VERY obscure LP, this is it! I'm guessing that this LP dates to the late 1970s. They have very thin covers, and almost always show record ring wear, creases, and other damage. I've never seen them here in the U.S., but a European collector has found a few copies for me. Be the first on your block to own a copy!!!
COPY #1. The cover on this one is nicer than most. It's got a bit of record ring and surface wear, a minor bend to the upper left corner, and a couple of small spots of discoloration on the back from removed price stickers. Still, the cover is EX -- quite nice for this LP. The vinyl is clean and nice -- NMINT. Overall, this copy is EX++. It's got red labels. Due to its rarity and great condition, $19.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has some definite record ring wear, mainly visible on the front cover, but it's nowhere near as bad as on most copies of this LP. Someone wrote "35" in small letters, blue ink, on the back, but it's been almost completely removed. Overall, the cover is EX- to EX. The vinyl is nearly flawless on the side with the MF track, but has a number of very fine surface scratches on the other side, which won't appreciably affect play. Let's call the vinyl EX+, although it's NMINT on the MF side. Overall, this LP is EX. A nice, solid copy, with red labels. $15.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is very, very nice. It's NMINT-. The vinyl has a red label, and it's pristine! NMINT+. Overall, this copy is NMINT. A super copy! $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON -- Columbia C31117

From 1971. On the cover, MF is standing with both arms upraised in front of an iron gate. Has Stoney End, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, etc.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON -- Armed Forces Radio and Television Service RL 33-2

From 1971. This is the AFRTS version of the LP Maynard Ferguson. It has the same tracks as the commercial LP, but it has a totally different label and catalog number and was pressed for use by Armed Forces radio stations. It comes in a generic sleeve. Has Stoney End, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, etc. This is probably 500 times rarer than the Columbia release. VERY, VERY HARD TO FIND!!!!!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ALIVE AND WELL IN LONDON (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- EPIC EPCL-54

This is the Japanese version of the album which is called just "Maynard Ferguson" (Columbia C31117) in the U.S. The cover, however, is radically different than the U.S. or U.K. versions. There's a photo on the cover of a city at twilight (London?). Also, unlike the U.S. and U.K. versions, this one is a gatefold cover. It has the tracks Stoney End, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, etc. It's much, much rarer than its U.S. counterpart, and quite a bit rarer than its U.K. counterpart. Perhaps it's 50 times as rare as the U.S. version. I seldom see one.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is almost perfect - NMINT+. It looks like the vinyl has been played once -- maybe twice. It's just pristine, and also NMINT+. Overall, it's a near-perfect NMINT+ copy. Yours for $30.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/SONY 23AP 87

This one looks just like the U.S. cover. MF is standing with both arms upraised in front of an iron gate. Has Stoney End, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, etc. It's much, much rarer than the U.S. version, however, and is pressed on far superior vinyl.
COPY #1. The otherwise super nice cover on this one has a bad bend at lower left. This reduced it from NMINT+ to just EX. The vinyl, unfortunately, has been exposed to heat and is badly warped, and unplayable. So ... THIS ONE IS ABSOLUTELY FREE TO ANYONE WHO PURCHASES $25.00 OR MORE IN OTHER MERCHANDISE AND SIMPLY ASKS ME TO INCLUDE IT WITH YOUR SHIPMENT. It will make a nice space filler.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ALIVE AND WELL IN LONDON (U.K. PRESSING) -- CBS 64432

This is the English version of the album which is called just "Maynard Ferguson" (Columbia C31117) in the U.S. Just like the U.S. version, on the cover MF is standing with both arms upraised in front of an iron gate. It has the tracks Stoney End, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, etc. But the title is different, and the printing is different. And ... it's much, much rarer than its U.S. counterpart. Perhaps it's 5 times as rare, 10 times, or even more. Collectors in England tell me it's getting harder to find all the time. Beware of people selling the U.S. version (Columbia C31117) as the album "Alive and Well in London". They're trying to rip you off! Make sure it has the CBS 64432 catalog number if you want this LP! I work VERY, VERY hard at finding these in Europe, so I usually have several nice copies available.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has the catalog number, "64432", written in blue ink at upper left. There's a worn spot under the writing where someone tried to erase the writing with solvent, but merely took some ink off the cover, instead. Still, even with this flaw, it's a pretty nice looking cover, with only some light creasing being in evidence otherwise. Let's call this cover EX-. The vinyl has quite a bit of light surface scratching. It plays OK, but there's some crackling in places and some general overall surface noise in the lighter passages. I'd rate the vinyl as VG+. So, overall, this is a VG+ to EX- copy. Maybe just a bit better than average. It's just $9.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has very minor corner bends in two corners, but they are VERY small. There's also just a tiny bit of surface wear, mainly visible on the back, but again, it's VERY minimal. (Most record dealers wouldn't even mention these small flaws.) Conservatively, this cover is NMINT-, but it could easily be judged NMINT by someone not as picky as me. The vinyl is beautiful! NMINT+. Perhaps only played a couple of times. Overall, this copy is NMINT! Yours for $18.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, 21.INTERNATIONALES JAZZ FESTIVAL IN ZURICH, 1971 -- MPS 33 21277-7

Here's an exceptionally rare European LP of Maynard playing on the track Geller's Cellar with the Bigband of the German-Swiss Radio Light Orchestra, recorded in September 1971. Maynard was invited to be guest leader of the Orchestra for this festival, and he supplied the scores, as well as leading the ensemble. On this track he really shines, and there's also some exceptional trombone work by Raymond Droz. Other tracks on this 2-disc set are also outstanding. Thus, it's rare and it's much sought-after, in Europe, as well as in Japan and in the U.S.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN TWO -- Columbia KC31709

A classic. Tracks include Give it One, Country Road, Theme from "Shaft," Theme from "Summer of '42," Mother, Spinning Wheel, Free Wheeler, and Hey Jude.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy shows just the slightest record ring wear, and a few small abrasions on the spine. It's EX to EX+. The vinyl has a series of very light parallel surface scratches on side 1 which do cause a little noise on playback. It's EX-. Overall, this copy is EX. $6.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has just a hint of ring wear on the front cover, but it's very, very minimal. I mention it only for the sake of complete disclosure, because the cover is still easily NMINT. The vinyl has a few light surface scuffs, but it's very nice, rating an EX++. Overall, this is a solid NMINT- copy. It's $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN TWO (UK Release) -- CBS S 65027

A classic. And this UK version has a TOTALLY DIFFERENT COVER and label than the U.S. version. It's a cream-colored gatefold cover, with a pierced cut-out of the letters "MF2" on the front flap, and Maynard visible underneath through the cut-out. Most copies have had this pierced cut-out torn, and although that diminishes the value a bit, expect this to be the case on most copies. The label is the bright orange CBS UK label. Tracks are the same as on the U.S. version: Give it One, Country Road, Theme from "Shaft," Theme from "Summer of '42," Mother, Spinning Wheel, Free Wheeler, and Hey Jude. This UK release is perhaps 10 times rarer than its U.S. counterpart. I seldom see a copy.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is pretty nice, but does show some surface wear both front and back. The "MF2" cut-out on the front flap, however, does NOT have any damage to it, which is rare, indeed. There's a little rought spot (about 1" long) on the left spine. I'd rate this cover as generally quite nice, in the EX+ range. The vinyl has quite a few ultra fine little surface scratches, which do cause some background noise on playback. it's in the EX range. Ovearll, this copy is EX to EX+. Due to its rarity and the solidness of the front "MF2" cut-out, it's still easily worth the asking price of $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN THREE -- Columbia KC32403

The great 1973 release with 'Round Midnight, Nice 'n Juicy, etc. An absolutely great release.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy looks quite clean and nice, but there are a few tiny, light brownish spots in places, and there's a bit of surface wear visible from the back. It's an EX cover. The vinyl has a couple of very light scratches that don't significantly affect play. It's EX+. Overall, this copy is EX to EX+. $6.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a clear laminate patch at upper left with the number 32403 on it -- a factory-applied catalog sticker. I've seen this once or twice before, and I'm not sure why they did this. There's a hint of ring wear on the cover, and a small, rectangular discoloration at upper right where a price sticker once resided. The ring wear is more prominent on the back, black cover. I'd rate this cover as EX-. The vinyl is clean and seldom-played, but I can see a few ultra light surface scratches. Let's call it EX+. Overall, this copy is in the EX range. Yours for $5.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is relatively clean and nice, although the back, black cover does show some record ring wear. There's a 1/2" seam split at upper right, and a 1/2" seam split at lower right. I'd rate this cover as EX, although it appears to be NMINT from the front. The vinyl is EX+. Overall, this copy is EX to EX+. Yours for $6.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one looks quite nice, but upon closer examination there are some depressions in the cover paper, probably made by a blunt object being run over the cover. There's a bit of sticker repair on the back cover, as well as some record ring wear. I'd rate this one as EX-. The vinyl shows some scuffing. It's in the EX to EX+ range. Overall, this copy is EX -- solid, but with several small faults. It's just $5.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this copy looks really clean and nice from the front, but the back (black) cover shows quite a bit of wear. The bottom seam is cracked in two places, and there's paper loss along the top seam in several small spots. The cover looks NMINT from the front, but the best I can rate it is EX-, due to the flaws described above. The vinyl is a relatively clean and nice NMINT-. Overall, this one is in the EX to EX+ range. Yours for $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN THREE (JAPANESE RELEASE) -- CBS Epic ECPL-104

The great 1973 release with 'Round Midnight, Nice 'n Juicy, etc. An absolutely great release. And this is the JAPANESE PRESSING. The cover on this one is similar to the U.S. version, but has a significant difference in the cover graphics. All the wording is in large block letters in the upper right corner of the cover. A definitely different and collectable cover from Japan.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN AND M.F. HORN TWO -- Columbia CG33660

This is a re-issue double LP of the M.F. Horn and M.F. Horn Two albums. It came out in about 1975. This particular album is notorious for showing a lot of record ring wear. Almost every copy I've ever seen has heavy ring wear. So don't be surprised if the ones I have available have this trait. Nevertheless, every MF collection needs a copy of this classic re-issue album.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy shows the typical ring wear. There's also some minor wear on the spines, and the bottom left-hand corner of the cover has been slightly bent. It's a very nice copy, but certainly has some minor flaws. The cover is EX. The vinyl is pretty good, as well ... at least EX. Overall, this copy is EX. $8.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one shows some of the typical ring wear, but it's better than average. It rates an EX+. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this one is NMINT-. $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN 4&5 LIVE AT JIMMY'S -- Columbia PG32732

This is one of MF's most popular albums. It was a live album, not a studio recording, and it ROCKS! Some of the best material MF ever recorded, and with one of the greatest editions of his great big band. Tracks include Teonova, MacArthur Park, Left Bank Express, I'm Gettin' Sentimental Over You, Two for Otis, Stay Loose with Bruce, Nice 'N' Juicy, The Fox Hunt, Got the Spirit, and Blue Birdland.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has a bit of the typical record ring wear that's seen on most copies of this LP. There's also some significant wear on the seams and spine. This one is in the EX- range. I had the opportunity to play grade this copy, and it grades out at EX-, with some background noise audible in the softer passages. Overall, this copy is EX-. Yours for $7.00.
COPY #2. This copy has quite a bit of the typical ring wear on the cover, front and back. This reduces it to EX. But, it's got a personalized autograph on the front cover ... "To Roger / Maynard Ferguson". If your name is Roger, then this is the one for you! The vinyl is a clean and nice NMINT-. Overall, this one is EX+. It's $30.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has quite a bit of the typical record ring wear. There are also 3" seam splits at upper right on both halves of the gatefold cover. Thus, I'd call the cover EX-. The vinyl is likewise EX-. So, this is a decent, but flawed copy. It's $7.00.
COPY #3. The catalog number on this one is KG 32732 instead of PG 32732. It has a super nice cover. It's almost MINT except that inside the gatefold cover there are a couple of abrasions which you can only see when opening it up. This reduces what would be a MINT copy to just NMINT-. The vinyl has a few very light scuffs, and it's likewise NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. It's $17.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this copy has some definite record ring wear, a corner bend at upper left, and slight seam splits at top. It's just EX-. The vinyl has some scuffs that don't affect play significantly. It's EX. Overall, this one is EX- to EX. It's $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, M.F. HORN 4 LIVE AT JIMMY'S (UK RELEASE) -- CBS S65952

Yes, you read the title of this LP correctly. It's M.F. Horn 4 -- it's a SINGLE LP. In the UK, M.F. Horn 4 was issued as a single LP, NOT as a double LP like its U.S. counterpart. These are EXTREMELY hard to find. I almost never see one!!! The folks in the UK tell me they're EXTREMELY difficult to come by. Truly a wonderous LP to have in your collection.
COPY #1. Just in from the UK, this copy is generally clean and nice, with just a little bit of seam wear and some minor surface wear. It's in the NMINT- to NMINT range. The vinyl is NMINT- to NMINT, as well. The labels are clean and crisp. Overall, a nice, clean NMINT- to NMINT copy. Yours for $25.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CHAMELEON -- Columbia PC33007

What a great LP! Tunes like Chameleon, Gospel John, La Fiesta, Superbone Meets the Bad Man ... it really rocks!
COPY #1. The cover on this one has some definite record ring wear, and a couple of long scrape marks on the front cover. It's VG+. The vinyl is somewhere in the EX- range. Overall, this copy is VG+ to EX-. Just $2.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has some definite record ring wear, and there are some dime-sized spots that are slightly discolored on the front cover. I'd rate the cover as VG+ to EX-. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, this one is EX to EX+. $4.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CHAMELEON (CANADIAN PRESSING) -- Columbia KG33007

What a great LP! Tunes like Chameleon, Gospel John, La Fiesta, Superbone Meets the Bad Man ... it really rocks! The Canadian cover has a much lighter background than the U.S. cover. The U.S. cover has a sort of dark purple background. The Canadian cover has a very light purple, perhaps violet, background. It's very obviously different. There are other subtle label and cover differences, as well.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GOLD DISC (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/SONY SOPN-98

This one takes a little explaining. In 1974, CBS/SONY released this Japanese-only pressing of tracks from the M.F. Horn through Chameleon LPs. It was only released in Japan. It must have had a TINY pressing, as I think I've only held 3 or 4 copies in my hands in all these years. I've seen them listed on-line, when available, for $300.00 plus shipping. When I bought mine, many years ago, I had to spend $400.00, as I recall, to knock down my copy. Of course, the prices have dropped drastically over the years, but they are still very rare and expensive (if you can even find one). The album cover has unique graphics unlike any on U.S. LPs, and the disc itself has a gold label. It came with a picture inner sleeve. To call this exceptionally rare would be an understatement. A must for every serious MF collector.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, HISTORY OF BIG BANDS (BULGARIAN PRESSING) -- Balkanton BTA 1949

This is a Bulgarian compilation LP with 10 tunes, including MF on Chameleon. Want to add something truly obscure and interesting to your MF collection? This is it!
COPY #1. The cover on this one is nicer than most. It's got some minor creasing various places along the edges. On the back, someone wrote "70/21285" in small blue letters. There's a little surface wear in places. Still, it's a relatively clean and nice copy. I'd rate the cover as EX. The vinyl is NMINT- to NMINT, and has white labels. Overall, this copy is EX++. A very nice copy, better than most. $16.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has some minor creasing along the edges, and some definite record ring wear on the front (black) cover. The back is pretty clean and nice, with just a little surface wear. Overall, I'd rate the cover as EX. The vinyl has one small scuff and a few very light scratches. It's EX+ to EX++. It's got blue labels. Overall, this copy rates in the EX+ range. $15.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy has just the faintest record ring wear at top center, and one spot on the back that's a bit abraded from removal of a price sticker. Still, it's the nicest one I have in stock. It's EX++. The vinyl is PRISTINE -- NMINT+!!! Overall, let's call this copy NMINT- to NMINT. $18.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has some definite surface and record ring wear, front and back, as well as some minor creasing around the edges. There are also two initials in blue ink on the front cover. Thus, it's just VG. The vinyl has numerous light scratches which do affect play a bit, causing some background noise and a few pops and clicks. It's only VG, as well. So this is not the greatest copy, but it's rare, and it's priced right at only $8.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, FAMOUS JAZZ TRUMPET PLAYERS (BULGARIAN PRESSING) -- Balkanton BTA 1963

This is a Bulgarian compilation LP with 6 tunes, including MF on La Fiesta from the Chameleon LP. For you purist collectors out there that want a VERY obscure LP, this is it! (It's also got Bill Chase on the tune Close Tight.) I'm guessing that this LP dates to the late 1970s. They have very thin covers, and almost always show record ring wear, creases, and other damage. I've never seen them here in the U.S., but a European collector has found a few copies for me. Want to add something truly obscure and interesting to your MF collection? This will definitely fit the bill!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has heavy record ring wear, as well as spine wear and some fading and stains on the back. It's maybe only slightly better than average -- VG+. The vinyl has red labels, and quite a bit of light scuffing and fine scratches which won't affect play in any major way, but will cause a little background noise in places. Let's call the vinyl EX-. Overall, this copy is somewhere in the VG++ range. Just $9.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has only light record ring wear, and a bend at bottom right. The seams have been taped with clear tape, both top and bottom, but you probably would just think it was the way the cover was put together if you couldn't compare it to another copy. Nevertheless, due to the spine taping, we'll reduce this cover to just EX-, although it looks better than this rating would imply. The vinyl has red labels, and is NMINT-. Overall, this copy rates an EX to EX+. $13.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, PRIMAL SCREAM -- Columbia PC33953

MF goes electronic by bringing aboard ARP and MOOG synthesizers. Interesting stuff. Very hip, rockin' brass and electronic sounds. One of my favorites! Be aware that almost EVERY copy of this record is going to have some record ring wear, both front and back, because it's a dark-colored cover, and was very susceptible to ring wear. I'll try to describe each copy accurately, but if you're looking for an absolutely perfect cover, it's going to be very hard to find.
COPY #1. Today I found this really nice copy at a record show. There is almost no ring wear, because the album was still in the original shrink wrap when I found it. The only issues with the cover are a little visible wear along the opening slit (where the shrink wrap was open) and a couple of rub spots on the upper seam. Still, there's virtually no ring wear, so seam splits, and it's one of the cleanest covers you're going to find. It's NMINT. The vinyl looks like it was maybe played once. It's super!!! NMINT++. Overall, this is one of the nicest copies I've seen in a very long time. It's $12.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CONQUISTADOR -- Columbia PC34457

The original LP from 1977. Includes Gonna Fly Now.
COPY #1. A nice copy, EX, $2.50.
COPY #2. A super nice copy, EX+. $3.00.
COPY #3. EX+, $3.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one is NMINT -- really nice. The vinyl is NMINT on side 1, but there are some surface marks on side 2. Still, the vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, this one is NMINT- to NMINT. $4.50.
COPY #5. The cover on this one shows a lot of wear along the spines, and a bit of record ring wear, as well. It's just VG+. The vinyl is VG+ to EX-. Overall, this one is at least VG+. Just $1.50.
COPY #6. The cover on this copy has a white, DJ timing strip glued to the bottom front. It's a NMINT cover, except for this DJTS. The vinyl sports a white label, and is NMINT, except for a dealer's address rubber-stamped on one side. Due to the DJTS and rubber stamp, this otherwise NMINT copy is just EX+, and I'll let it go for $3.00.
COPY #7. The cover on this one has some definite record ring wear and there's a black ink mark running about 9" across the cover. The cover is just VG+. The vinyl has some scuffs and light surface scratches. It's in the EX range. Overall, let's call this copy EX-. It's yours for just $1.00.
COPY #8. The cover on this copy has just a tiny bit of surface wear visible, as well as a little edge wear. It's NMINT-. The vinyl is likewise NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. It's $4.00.
COPY #9. The cover on this one has some of the typical record ring wear, as well as a little seam wear. It's EX-. The vinyl, however, is a clean and nice NMINT. Overall, let's call this one EX+. Yours for $2.50.
COPY #10. The cover on this one has almost none of the typical record ring wear. There's just a little edge wear and a few light wrinkles in the cover paper. It's a NMINT- cover. The vinyl, however, has numerous light surface scratches. It's VG+. Overall, this copy is in the EX range. Yours for $2.50.
COPY #11. The cover on this copy is a near-perfect NMINT. The vinyl has a couple of very light scuffs, but it's still NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT- to NMINT. It's $4.50.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CONQUISTADOR (AUDIOPHILE PRESSING) -- Columbia HC44457

This is the half-speed mastered, audiophile version of the 1977 Conquistador LP. In my experience, it's about 50 times rarer than the regular version. The vinyl was top-notch, and the pressing was of the highest quality. A superb LP! And the other day a collector told me that there are some notes in Maynard's Gonna Fly Now solo that are audible on this version, but not on the regular LP. Woah! Hadn't heard that one before. Anyway, it's a super pressing!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CONQUISTADOR (CANADIAN PRESSING) -- Columbia PC34457

Here's the Canadian version of the 1977 Conquistador LP. In my experience, it's much rarer than the U.S. version. Definitely one for the completist collector.
COPY #1. Just in, here's the first copy of this hard-to-find LP I've ever had on the website. The cover has a hint of record ring and edge wear. I'd rate it as EX+ to NMINT-. The vinyl is really super -- NMINT+! A very nice copy, it's $10.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CONQUISTADOR (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/Sony 25AP 441

Here's the Japanese version of the 1977 Conquistador LP. In my experience, it's much rarer than the U.S. version.

WILLIAM B. & COMPANY, PRESENTED BY THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE -- U.S. Army Reserve Programs #309-312

This one takes a little explaining. It's a two-LP set (in a gatefold cover) which was designed for on-air broadcasts by radio stations. Willaim B. was the host of an Army Reserve radio program. In early 1977, he interviewed Maynard for two on-air programs. Program #309 aired the week of 3/27/77 (and it's side one of the first disc), and Program #310 aired the week of 4/3/77 (and it's side two of the first disc). (The second disc in the LP set contains interviews with Lionel Hampton.) Much like the Interchords LP, it's an interview session with Maynard, and it's REALLY got a lot of interesting information as well as tracks from Maynard's Conquistador and Primal Scream LPs. (Conquistador was released not long before this interview.) It includes on-air commercial spots for the Army Reserve. Incredibly rare!!!

VARIOUS ARTISTS, YOU'VE GOTS TA CHILL (U.K. RELEASE) -- Label UNKNOWN, Catalog Number MA1

Here's a VERY HARD LP to find. It's a wild compilation LP from the U.K. with Maynard represented on the tune Mister Mellow. The cover has a great cartoon of a wiped out dude holding a huge pill that's labeled "Chill Pill." It's a compilation of various funk tunes from the '70s. Very, very hard to find.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, JAZZ ROCKS (DUTCH RELEASE) -- CBS 88269

Here's a VERY HARD LP to find. It was apparently issued only in Holland, and it's a 2-LP gatefold set of various Columbia/CBS artists, including MF on Gonna Fly Now. The cover features the words "Jazz Rocks", with a lightning bolt hitting and exploding a large rock. It's a relatively rare LP.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has just a little edge wear. Still, it's very clean and nice on the outside. However, inside the gatefold (not visible when closed) there is quite a bit of record ring wear. As a result, instead onf NMINT, I'm going to call this one EX. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, a nice, solid EX+ copy. $15.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy is a clean and nice. The only problem is a 1/2" closed tear on the right edge. It's almost imperceptible, but it does reduce the cover to NMINT-. The vinyl is an ultra pristine NMINT+, and it's quite possibly MINT, never played. Overall, this copy is NMINT. It's yours for $18.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has quarter-size and dime-size tears in the front paper. There's light to heavy corner bends in three corners. Still, remarkably, since the cover art is clean and nice, with very little wear, it looks half-way decent. Due to the problems mentioned above, I'd give it a VG+ to an EX-. The vinyl has numerous scuffs and light surface scratches. It's VG. Overall, this copy is maybe VG+ ... an average copy. Due to the problems, it's yours for just $7.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, JAZZROCK (CZECH RELEASE) -- CBS Supraphon 1115 4399 ZD

Here's a VERY HARD compilation LP to find. It was apparently issued only in Czechoslovakia, and it was pressed by Supraphon for CBS in 1987. It includes MF on Gonna Fly Now. The cover features the words "JAZZROCK" and a sort of graphical cosmos. It's really cool.
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this RARE LP I've had for sale on the website. The cover is absolutely solid, with the only issue being a few tiny creases in the cover laminate. Not a big deal, and it's still easily NMINT. The vinyl has quite a few surface scuffs and light scratches. I'd rate it as only EX-. Overall, this copy is in the EX+ range. It's $20.00. BONUS! THIS LP COMES WITH A TRANSCRIPTION CD MADE FROM THE LP SO YOU'LL HAVE A DIGITAL COPY FOR PLAYBACK AND ARCHIVING.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, NEW VINTAGE -- Columbia JC34971

Recorded 7/10/77 in New York City.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is a bit rough. There's some definite record ring wear and edge wear, and someone wrote "TOF" in the bell of the horn on the front cover (in black marker). It's just an average, VG cover. The vinyl has one light scratch and some light scuffs. It's EX- to EX. Overall, this copy is maybe just a squeak better than average. Let's call it VG+. Yours for just $2.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a 10" black mark across the front. Perhaps this was done as a "cut out" or "deletion" tactic. Anyway, other than this, the cover would be NMINT-. Due to this mark, let's call the cover EX. The vinyl has a couple of ultra light surface scuffs, but they don't affect play. It's NMINT. Overall, let's call this copy EX+. It's yours for $4.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is clean and nice, but does show a hint of wear in places, and a very slight crease near the bottom left corner. It's NMINT-. The vinyl is EX. Overall, this copy is EX++. Yours for $4.50.
COPY #4. The cover on this copy has a bit of record ring wear and some general overall wear, but it's still quite attractive. It has a gold promo inscription embossed on the back. I'd rate it as EX. The vinyl has white promo labels, and it rates an EX++. Overall, a nice, solid, EX+ copy. It's $3.50.
COPY #5. The cover on this one has a DJ Timing Strip on the front at bottom center. It's also got some ring wear, and a gold embossed promo stamp on the back cover. Due the ring wear and the DJTS, this cover is just VG. The vinyl has pristine white promo labels, and it's MINT, NEVER PLAYED. For the specialist collector who wants promo copies, or for someone who wants a crisp, never-played disc. It's $3.50.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, NEW VINTAGE (CANADIAN PRESSING) -- Columbia JC34971

Recorded 7/10/77 in New York City.
COPY #1. This is the Canadian pressing of the great MF LP. It's almost exactly like the U.S. version, except for some subtle label and cover differences. The cover on this one has a very minor corner bend at upper right, and just a bit of surface and edge wear. It's EX to EX+. The vinyl has a bit of surface scuffing, but will play fine. It's EX. Overall, this copy is EX to EX+. $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, NEW VINTAGE (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/Sony 25AP 833

Recorded 7/10/77 in New York City. This is the rare Japanese printing, on wonderful vinyl! Highly recommended.
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this LP I've ever had for sale on the website. It retains the original obi strip and insert. The cover is NMINT. The vinyl is NMINT+! An outstanding copy, it's $20.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, SOUND MUSICAL ADVICE -- Columbia A2S 323

This is a white label double gatefold promo album put out by Columbia Records in 1977. It contains the track Soar Like an Eagle (from the Conquistador LP). It's definitely one of the rarest Columbia promo LPs. They're EXTREMELY hard to find, and perhaps "RARE" wouldn't be an overstatement for this one.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has significant bends in all four corners and a bit of surface wear. Rats, because it looks really nice on first glance. I'm going to rate it as EX- due to these issues. The vinyl is pristine, and maybe was played once. It's NMINT++. Overall, let's call this one EX++. Due to its rarity, it's $18.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, A WINNING SEASON OF JAZZ FROM CBS RECORDS -- Columbia AS374

This is a white label promo album put out by Columbia Records in 1977. It contains the track Main Title from Star Wars (from the New Vintage LP) and the track Andromeda (from Montreux Summit Vol. 1), both with MF. It has a very nice picture cover of a city, and some of the skyscrapers look an awful lot like musical instruments. Way cool!
COPY #1. Just in, this one has a nice, clean NMINT cover. The vinyl is easily NMINT, and is tending to NMINT+. Ultra clean and nice. Overall, this copy is NMINT to NMINT+. $18.00.
COPY #2. Just purchased today at a record show, this copy has a little bit of surface wear on the front. The spine is a little rough, and there's some definite wear on the back. I'd rate this cover as EX. The vinyl appears to me to be MINT, never played!!! Let's call this one NMINT- overall. It's yours for $14.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows some very light surface wear, but it's still NMINT-. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED. Overall, it's NMINT+. Yours for $19.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has some definite surface wear and the bottom seam is rough and split near the left edge. It's just EX-. The disc a seldom played NMINT. Overall, this one is EX+. It's $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE BEST OF MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE WHOLE WORLD'S HIS STAGE -- Columbia AS445

This is a white label promo album put out by Columbia Records in 1977. It was ONLY issued as a promo disc. Someone has told me that it was available through the MF Fan Club, but I've not confirmed this. To me, it just looks like a radio station promo LP. Anyway, it's a RARE MF greatest hits sort of LP, with the tracks Pagliacci, Primal Scream, Gonna Fly Now, Gospel John, Chameleon, Give it One, Maria, and MacArthur Park. Exciting stuff! It's a predominantly black cover, with a white MF trumpet logo on the front. In NMINT condition, expect to pay about $50.00 for one of these rare LPs.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, ALL THAT JAZZ (CANADIAN RELEASE) -- Columbia CDN-8

Here's an extremely rare Columbia demonstration LP. It has white promo labels, and it was never released in the U.S. It was apparently sent to radio stations and used for other promotional purposes in Canada, only. It's got a cover photo of a beautiful nude female model, taken in a rather artistic, "fuzzy" photographic style. I've only seen less than a handful of these. One of those was sold not too long ago on the internet for more than $100.00. It contains the tune Main Title from "Star Wars," from the New Vintage LP. Ultra, ultra RARE!!!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CARNIVAL -- Columbia JC35480

The 1978 release with Stella by Starlight, Birdland, Over the Rainbow, etc.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is NMINT, with the only issue being a bend at upper left which is only visible from the back. The vinyl is NMINT. A super, NMINT copy. $8.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a few minor scratches in the upper left-hand corner -- apparently where someone removed a price sticker. It's very minor, and the cover still rates a NMINT- to NMINT, because otherwise, it's pristine. The vinyl is clean and shiny, with just a couple of scuffs that don't affect play. It's NMINT-. Overall, this one is easily NMINT- (although all the record dealers I know would call it NMINT). $7.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is a clean and nice NMINT, with the only issue being a minor corner bend at bottom right. The vinyl is the same! Overall, this is a super clean and nice NMINT copy. It's yours for $8.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has a couple of little smudges on the front -- inking flaws from the printer. Still, it's a clean and nice NMINT- to NMINT cover. The vinyl rates a NMINT-. Overall, this copy is in the NMINT- range. Yours for $7.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one shows a hint of ring wear, and there's a minor bend at upper left that's visible from the back. I'd rate it as EX+. The vinyl is a seldom-played NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. It's yours for $7.00.
COPY #6. The cover on this one looks great, but in oblique light you can see that someone wrote on a piece of paper on top of this cover and left some indentations. Again, they're only visible in oblique light, so I think the cover rates an EX. The vinyl has some scuffs and light surface scratches. It's EX. Overall, this copy is in the EX range. Yours for $3.00.
COPY #7. The cover on this one has a factory DJ Timing Strip glued to the front bottom -- a rare occurrence - and a gold embossed promo stamp on the back cover. It's a true Columbia promo release. The only issue with the cover is a significant bend at upper right and a little less significant one at upper left. I'd rate the cover as EX. The vinyl has white promo labels (rare) and rates a NMINT. Overall, this copy is in the EX++ range. AND ... IT'S NICELY AUTOGRAPHED BY MAYNARD ON THE FRONT IN FLOWING BLACK MARKER!!! It's yours for $10.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CARNIVAL (CANADIAN RELEASE) -- Columbia PC35480

The 1978 release with Stella by Starlight, Birdland, Over the Rainbow, etc. This is the Canadian version, which has slight differences to the cover and label.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is quite clean and nice, with just a little bit of surface wear visible, and a minor bend to the upper right corner. These slight flaws reduce the cover to EX+. Still, a nice, clean cover. The vinyl is, unfortunately, covered with a number of surface scratches. It's only VG-, and plays with definite surface noise. Overall, let's call this copy VG+. If you're looking for a Canadian variety at a low price, it's just $1.50.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is a very clean and nice NMINT. The vinyl is likewise NMINT. A very, very nice copy, it's NMINT overall, and priced at $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CARNIVAL (DUTCH RELEASE) -- CBS 82999

The 1978 DUTCH version of this great LP, with the tracks Stella by Starlight, Birdland, Over the Rainbow, etc. There are slight differences to the cover and significant differences in the label vs. the U.S. pressing.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CARNIVAL (JAPANESE RELEASE) -- CBS/SONY 25AP 1004

The 1978 JAPANESE version of this great LP, with the tracks Stella by Starlight, Birdland, Over the Rainbow, etc. There are slight differences to the cover and significant differences in the label vs. the U.S. pressing. And the vinyl on this pressing is far superior to the U.S. version.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, INDIVIDUALS, JAZZ GREATS FROM CBS RECORDS -- Columbia A2S 512

Here's a 1978 demo double-LP in a gatefold cover from Columbia, with various artists, including Weather Report, Bob James, Willie Bobo, etc. And of course, there's Maynard, on the track "Battlestar Gallactica" from the Carnival album. Although not impossible to find, this one was never commercially available, so it's a tough one to find for your collection. Most copies show decided ring wear on the dark cover. They come with white, promo-type labels.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy does show the typical record ring wear, both front and back. I had to repair seam splits at the top of each side of the gatefold cover, but I was careful, and the repair is barely detectable. Let's call the cover EX- to EX. The vinyl is quite nice -- EX+. Overall, this is a nice, solid EX copy. $9.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy does show a bit of the typical record ring wear, both front and back, but it's not too bad. There's also a bit of wear on the bottom seam. Still, it's an EX+ cover. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. $13.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows a little bit of surface wear, mostly visible on the back. It's still quite a nice cover, rating a NMINT-. The vinyl looks like it might have been played ONCE -- NMINT++. Overall, this copy is NMINT. It's $15.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this copy does show a bit of the typical record ring wear, both front and back, but it's not too bad. It's an EX+ cover. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED. Overall, this copy is NMINT. $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOT -- Columbia JC36124

Recorded 5/79, released 1979. Some great tracks, such as Rocky II Disco, Gabriel, Theme from Star Trek, Dayride, Naima, and Topa-Topa Woman. For some reason, this is one of the harder Columbias to come by lately.
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one shows some definite surface wear on the black front cover, which is really typical. Still, there's very little record ring wear, and overall, it's still an EX to EX+ cover. The vinyl is very nice, with the exception of one large surface scuff which doesn't affect play. I'd rate it as EX+ to NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX+. $5.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has just some very minor surface flaws -- nothing worth mentioning. The back has a gold promo inscription at upper left. I'd rate this cover as NMINT. The vinyl appears to me to be MINT, never played. Overall, this copy is NMINT to NMINT+. $8.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has a few light creases in a a couple of places, and a little bit of surface wear visible. Still, it's relatively clean and nice, and rates an EX++ to NMINT-. The vinyl is seldom played, and rates a NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, let's call this copy NMINT-. It's yours for $6.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has some general surface and record ring wear, but it's not too bad. There's a slight crease at bottom right, and there's a bit of damage to the backing paper at top center. I'd rate this cover as EX-. The vinyl has one obvious scuff and a number of light surface scratches that translate to a bit of noise in places during play. It's in the VG+ to EX- range. Overall, this one is VG+ to EX-. Just $3.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one has a little surface wear, mainly on the front, but it's not bad. It's an EX+ cover. The vinyl has a few light scuffs and surface scratches but they don't affect play. It's EX. Overall, this one is EX to EX+. It's $5.50.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOT (CANADIAN PRESSING) -- Columbia JC36124

Recorded 5/79, released 1979. This is the Canadian version of MF's HOT album. It's almost like the U.S. version, but there are subtle differences in the record label and cover.
COPY #1. The cover on this one shows a bit of the typical record ring and edge wear that's so common on this LP. It's EX. The vinyl has some surface scuffing, but it's not too bad. I'd rate it as EX, as well. Overall, this is a nice, solid EX copy. $5.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a significant bend at upper left, and some wear is present, front and back. It's EX- to EX. The vinyl is a nice NM. Overall it's EX to EX+. Yours for $6.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy is really nice from the front. The front is easily NMINT to NMINT+. One the back, it's likewise nice except someone wrote an inscription in ink. Due to that inscription, I'm going to call this cover EX+, although, once again, it looks NMINT to NMINT+ from the front. The vinyl is a clean and nice NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. Yours for $7.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOT (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/Sony 25AP 1689

Recorded 5/79, released 1979. This is the Japanese version of MF's HOT album. It's almost like the U.S. version, but there are subtle differences in the record label and cover. The vinyl is MUCH better than on the U.S. version -- they use only the best in Japan.
SORRY! NO COIPES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, INDIVIDUALS -- Columbia CG36213

Released in 1979, this Columbia compilation double gatefold LP contains various Columbia artists of the era, including MF on "Rocky II ... Knockout!". Other artists include Bob James, Stanley Clarke, Freddie Hubbard, Weather Report, Stan Getz, etc. These are quite hard to come by. It's also a fact that they exist as both normal "red label" copies and as white label promos.
COPY #1. This is a normal red label copy. The cover on this one shows a little record ring wear, both front and back, and some minor spine abrasions both top and bottom, but it's better than most of the other copies I've seen. (The dark blue cover on these is very prone to ring and spine wear.) Even with the slight wear, the cover is still EX+. The vinyl is very nice -- EX+. So, overall, this copy is EX+. A nice, solid LP, $12.00.
COPY #2. This is a white label promo copy. The cover on this one shows a little light record ring wear, and a little wear on the spines. Still, it's a nice, solid cover, in the EX++ range. The vinyl is clean and nice -- NMINT! Overall, this copy is NMINT-. $14.00.
COPY #3. This is a normal red label copy. The cover on this on shows just a tiny hint of surface wear, but it's minimal. There's a little rubbing to the stop seam. Let's call the cover EX++. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED. Overall, this one is NMINT. $16.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE BEST OF MAYNARD FERGUSON -- Columbia JC36361

Released in 1980. Compilation album with Gonna Fly Now, Mac Arthur Park, Theme from Star Trek, etc.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is really nice and clean, in excellent condition -- NMINT. The vinyl is EX+. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. $6.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has a near-perfect front, and the back is very nice, as well, except for a small abrasion in the upper left corner where a price sticker was removed. The cover is still NMINT-. The vinyl is NMINT-, as well. A nice, solid copy, NMINT-, $6.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy is the SHINY variety. (90% of those I've seen have a matte finish cover.) So it's definitely the rarer cover. There's just a hint of record ring wear, but it's still a NMINT cover. The vinyl is NMINT, as well. Overall, this is a super nice, NMINT copy, with the rarer shiny cover paper. $8.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one is clean and nice, with just minor bends in a couple of the corners. It's NMINT-. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, a nice, clean, NMINT- copy. Yours for $6.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one is super clean and nice -- NMINT to NMINT+! The vinyl is likewise NMINT to NMINT+! Just a super nice copy. It's yours for $17.00.
COPY #6. This one is still factory sealed! The only problem I can see through the shrink wrap is a tiny bend to the very tip of the bottom left corner. Otherwise, this copy is MINT, factory sealed. It's yours for $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, IT'S MY TIME -- Columbia JC36766

The 1980 Columbia release.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is really nice -- NMINT! The vinyl is EX, with one long surface mark which does not affect play. Overall, this copy is EX++. $6.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a gold embossed promo stamp on the back. It's a super clean and nice cover, with the only mark being a dime-sized place on the back where a price sticker was removed, and took a little of the cover's glossiness with it. Still, it's a beauty! Easily NMINT. The vinyl has white promo labels, and it's got some light scuffs and light surface scratches. It's EX. Overall, this copy is in the EX++ range. Yours for $5.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is still in the original shrink wrap. It's easily NMINT. The vinyl has a couple of surface scuffs, but they're very light and don't affect play (guaranteed). It's EX++. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. It's $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, IT'S MY TIME (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/Sony 25AP 1933

The 1980 Columbia release. This is the much-rarer Japanese pressing. Absoultely superb vinyl!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD -- Columbia PC36978

This is the Columbia Jazz Odyssey Series compilation album from 1981. It contains the charts Airegin, Stay Loose with Bruce, Round Midnight, The Cheshire Cat Walk, Chameleon, Birdland, and Naima. This is a relatively hard-to-find LP. I see about one copy of this one for every 5 to 10 copies of "The Best of Maynard Ferguson."
COPY #1. The cover on this one is super clean and nice. NMINT to NMINT+. The vinyl has one light scuff, but I don't think it's ever been played. Let's call it NMINT++. Overall, this copy is NMINT+. It's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON'S GREATEST HITS (JAPANESE RELEASE) -- CBS Sony 25AP 2026

This is the rare Japanese CBS/Sony compilation album from 1981. It contains the charts Gonna Fly Now, Theme from Star Trek, Theme from Galactica, Main Title (from Star Wars), Birdland, Fantasy, Everybody Loves the Blues, and You Can Have Me Anytime. What's most important about this release is the unique Japanese cover. It's in bright red, yellow, green, and blue, and is a picture of a ramp leading up from a parking structure. It's very modernistic looking, and totally unique -- nothing like it was ever released in the U.S. The Japanese collectors tell me this one is getting extremely hard to find, even in Japan. A rare and desirable MF collectable with a unique cover!
COPY #1. I've been extremely fortunate to find yet another copy of this rare Japanese LP. The cover on this one is quite nice, with the only issue being a tiny little bit of surface wear. It's NMINT to NMINT+. The vinyl is NMINT+. Overall, this is a NMINT to NMINT+ copy. It's $45.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOLLYWOOD -- Columbia FC37713

Released in 1982. A really interesting fusion album, and the last album to be released on the Columbia label. They're ultra popular with the collectors!
COPY #1. The cover on this one would be NMINT++ (because it's PRISTINE), but there is a slight bend at bottom right. Still, it's a NMINT cover. The vinyl is EX-, with some fine surface scratches that will cause a bit of surface noise during play. Overall, this copy is EX+. $6.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a little brownish dot straddling the spine. I think it might had had a little round sticker over the spine at one time or another. Otherwise, this is a pristine cover. Let's call it NMINT- due to this one problem. The vinyl has a few scuffs and very light scratches that do translate to a few light crackles on playback. I'd rate it as EX- to EX. Overall, this copy is in the EX+ range. Yours for $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOLLYWOOD (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/Sony 25AP 2317

Here's the Japanese pressing of the 1982 MF Hollywood LP. The vinyl is far superior to that on the U.S. version.
COPY #1. The cover on this one retains its original obi strip and the insert is inside. It's absolutely pristine NMINT++!!!! The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this one is NMINT+. It's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOLLYWOOD SAMPLER -- Columbia AS 1399

Back in 1982, Columbia sent out a white label promo LP to radio stations, with two tracks per side from the Hollywood LP. On side 1, there's Don't Stop and Hollywood. On side 2, Portuguese Love and Touch and Go. These are EXCEPTIONALLY RARE LPs!!! I've only seen less than a handful in all these years.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, INTERCHORDS (AN INTERVIEW WITH MAYNARD FERGUSON) -- Columbia AS1459

Released in 1982. This is a white label radio station promo LP, with an MF interview interspersed between the tracks Primal Scream, Hollywood, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, For Your Eyes Only, Deja Vu, and Gonna Fly Now. Maynard talks about various subjects, including his years growing up in Canada. A must for every serious MF collection!!!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one is a very nice and clean NMINT. The vinyl is likewise NMINT. Also, I have made a transcription CD, directly from the LP, of Interchords, and I will include a copy (for anyone who no longer has a turntable, as well as for backup purposes). Both this nice LP and the backup CD are yours for $19.00.

COPY #4. This one has a little water damage to the cover, front, bottom, center. It's caused a little brownish toning along the bottom edge. Otherwise, it's a quite nice cover, but due to this problem, I'm only going to rate the cover as VG+. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, let's call this one EX. Also, I have made a transcription CD, directly from the LP, of Interchords, and I will include a copy (for anyone who no longer has a turntable, as well as for backup purposes).
