Frances Faye LPs with Maynard Ferguson

FRANCES FAYE, I'M WILD AGAIN -- Bethlehem BCP-23

Back in 1955, Russ Garcia produced and conducted this interesting album for singer Frances Faye. Maynard is listed, along with Frank Rosolino, in the trombone section as "Two Others". They did this because Frank and Maynard had contracts with other labels, and couldn't be identified by their true names. Really interesting jazz vocals, and a must in every serious MF collection! It lists for $40.00 in NMINT condition.
COPY #1. This is the first copy I've had on the website it a very long time. These original LPs are very hard to find. The cover on this one has just a little bit of surface wear front and back. Otherwise, it's clean and nice, and the seams and spine are all completely intact. I'd rate this cover as NMINT-. The vinyl is EX+. Overall, this copy is EX++. A nice, solid, well-above-average copy, it's yours for $13.00.

FRANCES FAYE, I'M WILD AGAIN (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sound Records FSR-2031

Back in 1955, Russ Garcia produced and conducted this interesting album for singer Frances Faye. This version is the great Spanish Fresh Sound re-issue version from the 1980s. Exceptionally rare, and a wonderful pressing! On this more contemporary version of the LP, they DO list Maynard as being in the trombone section, as opposed the the original cover which merely said "two others." Really interesting jazz vocals, and a must in every serious MF collection!
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this Fresh Sound pressing I've ever had for sale on these Set Sale pages. The cover on this one is a clean and nice NMINT. The vinyl appears to be MINT, NEVER PLAYED. A superb, NMINT+ copy, overall, it's $18.00.

FRANCES FAYE, BAD, BAD, FRANCES FAYE -- Bethlehem BCP-6006

Back in 1955, Russ Garcia produced and conducted an album for singer Frances Faye entitled I'm Wild Again. This is the 1976 re-issue of that album under the new title, Bad, Bad, Frances Faye. Maynard is listed, along with Frank Rosolino, in the trombone section as "Two Others". They did this because Frank and Maynard had contracts with other labels, and couldn't be identified by their true names. Really interesting jazz vocals, and a must in every serious MF collection!
COPY #1. The cover and vinyl on this copy are both in super, NMINT+ condition! This is a GREAT copy!!! $12.00.
COPY #2. The cover and vinyl on this copy are both in super, NMINT+ condition! This is a GREAT copy!!! $12.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is super clean and nice, but the bottom right corner has been cut off (a cut-out item). This reduces the cover from NMINT+ to just EX. The vinyl appears to me to be MINT, never played, but let's call it NMINT+ just to be on the safe side. Overall, this is a pristine copy with the only problem being the cut corner on the cover. This one is yours for just $6.00.
COPY #4. This one was still in shrink wrap, but it was getting torn, so I removed it to reveal a clean and nice cover, with the only issue being a slight scrape near the top edge. It looks like it came from the factory that way. Still, it's a NMINT cover. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED. Overall, this one is NMINT+. $12.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one looks MINT, but someone apparently wrote an "H" (small) on the outside of the plastic sleeve and it made a slight impression on the back cover. It's tiny, but this reduced the cover from MINT to NMINT+. The vinyl is MINT, NEVER PLAYED. Overall, this one is NMINT++. $13.00.
COPY #6. The cover on this copy are MINT!!!! $15.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, BETHLEHEM'S BEST -- Bethlehem EXLP-6

This is a 3-LP gatefold compilation album by various artists, dating to 1958. It lists for $60.00 in NMINT condition, and has a number of fantastic artists. Of interest to us, of course, is the Frances Faye track entitled "They Can't Take That Away from Me," which was on the "I'm Wild Again" LP from 1955. Maynard plays valve trombone on this track as one of "Two Others." Not every MF collector is going to need this for their collection, but the purists who want one of everything should JUMP at this. They're VERY hard to find.
COPY #1. This copy has one of the nicer covers I've seen. The three or four I've seen are generally in terrible condition. This one, however, is VERY nice, with the only problem being some transparent tape nicely applied to one of the gatefold seams to repair a split. It's still an EX+ cover. The vinyl is VG+ to EX-. Overall, this one is EX- to EX. Just $10.00.

FRANCES FAYE, FRANCES FAYE SINGS FOLK SONGS -- Bethlehem BCP-6017

Back in 1958, Maynard entered the studio with Russ Garcia to back singer Frances Faye on this interesting folk song LP. It's sort of "folk gone jazz" in nature. Maynard plays trumpet (not valve trombone) throughout this session, and is credited on the back cover. This one lists in the jazz guide for $40.00 in NMINT condition, but I've seen it priced even higher in two different record stores. Also, another note -- for some reason or other, these are most often found with very rough covers. The covers were poorly made, and there is frequently spine, seam, and other damage. Keep this in mind when rating each copy.
COPY #1. The cover on this one shows definite signs of wear, front and back. The spine is completely split, and both seams are rough and partially split, as well. This one isn't even average. I'm going to rate is GOOD (which means NOT SO GOOD). The vinyl is a bit dull, plays with significant background noise, and I detected a skip (although it might be OK with a good cleaning). It's POOR. Overall, this one ranks in the POOR++ area. Just $1.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is fairly clean and nice all-over, with just a little bit of rubbing on the seams and spine. It's EX++. The vinyl has a few very light scuffs and surface scratches, but they don't significantly affect play. It's EX. Overall, this one is in the EX+ range. It's $10.00.
