June Christy 45s with Maynard Ferguson

JUNE CHRISTY WITH PETE RUGOLO AND HIS ORCHESTRA, SOMETHING COOL -- Capitol EBF 516

This is the 45 RPM double EP picture cover gatefold album of Something Cool. Recorded 8/14/53, MF was in the orchestra for this classic recording session. I don't exaggerate in calling it a classic. I was dining in a little corner cafe in Sydney, Australia a few months ago, and they started playing the CD of this album in the background. I nearly dropped my fork! Dining by MF in Australia! Anyway, it's pretty common in LP format, but much tougher to find in an original picture cover 45 EP version like this one. Unbelievably, I've been very fortunate in digging them up lately.
COPY #1. The cover on this one shows some signs of wear, both front and back, but overall it's still pretty nice, with no split spines or other real damage. The vinyl is pretty typical mid-50s vinyl, with some surface noise throughout. Overall, the cover is VG+, and the vinyl is VG. Let's call it VG overall. $4.00.
COPY #2. This is really a super copy. The front of the cover is NMINT, and the back of the cover is at least EX++. It's solid in every respect. Let's call the cover NMINT- overall. The vinyl has a bit of surface noise, as is typical for this era, but it plays well, and is EX overall. Let's call this one EX+. $8.00.
COPY #3. This copy has a little bit of brown "foxing" around the edge of the cover, and there's a superficial 1" spine crack at top center of the front gatefold cover. It's still pretty attractive, EX-. The vinyl is pretty typical, VG. Overall, this one is VG+. $5.00.

JUNE CHRISTY, YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME / INTRIGUE –- Capitol F3471

This is a 45 RPM disc of two tracks recorded by June Christy with MF on 5/23/56: You Took Advantage of Me and Intrigue. This is a VERY hard-to-find 45, and it's in FEW MF collections. Most collectors don't even know about it.
COPY #1. This is a white label promo copy of this great little 45. The vinyl is EX+. Unfortunately, the label paper is soft and porous, and it looks like it got wet at one time and wrinkled a bit. Too bad for me, because this is a $20.00 disc if in NMINT condition. Even though it still plays great, due to the wrinkled label paper, it's just $2.00.
