Louis Bellson 45s with Maynard Ferguson

LOUIS BELLSON, THE EXCITING LOUIS BELLSON (AND HIS BIG BAND) -- Norgran Records EPN-23

Here's a difficult EP to find! Recorded in August, 1954, MF plays in the tracks Caxton Hall Swing, For Europeans Only, and Phalanges. I've only rarely seen a copy of this elusive little picture cover EP.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has had both the top and bottom seam taped closed with a wide band of transparent tape. Otherwise, the front paper is quite clean and nice. On the back there's a smudged rubber-stamped address for "Columbia Music City" on Market Street in San Francisco. Due to these two problems, let's call the cover VG+ -- just slightly better than average. The labels are super clean and nice, and the vinyl is clean and shiny, with just a few very light surface scuffs. It's EX++. Overall, this copy is EX. Due to the cover problems, it's yours for just $6.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy is super nice and clean. The only problems are a 2" seam crack at top center, and a 2" seam split at bottom right, as well as a little surface wear visible on the back cover. Otherwise, it's in super condition, and rates an EX+ overall. The labels are like new, and the vinyl is super clean and nice -- EX+. Overall, this one rates an EX+. This copy is yours for $10.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is really clean and nice. The only significant problems are a 1/2" seam split at upper right and a 2" seam split at lower right. I'd still rate the cover as EX+. The disc has clean and nice labels. The vinyl has some ultra fine surface scratches and a couple of scuffs. It's EX-. Overall, this copy is in the EX range. It's $6.00.

Here's "Part 2" of the EP above. It's even more difficult to find that the one above! Recorded in August, 1954, MF plays in the track Skin Deep. (Side 2 is Percussionistically Speaking, but MF isn't on that track.) I've only rarely seen a copy of this elusive little picture cover EP.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is relatively clean and nice. There's some edge wear, and the top and bottom seams are just starting to split each each edge. There's a minor bend at upper right. Still, this is really a nice cover, and rates at least an EX. The vinyl is also a clean and nice EX to EX+. Really a nice copy of an elusive little picture cover EP. It's yours for $12.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is really clean and nice. The only issues, and they're minor, are a little water staining along the spine (barely perceptible), a 1" crack in the center of the spine (again, barely perceptible), and a little abrasion (about 1/2") on the top seam. Still, this is a great looking cover. It was in my personal collection for a very long time until I recently found a copy that was just slightly better. It's easily NMINT-. The disc is also in great shape, with super clean labels (like new) and EX+ vinyl. Overall, this copy is EX++. It's yours for $13.00.
