Upon the day of the Christ child
A savior born in the wild
A holiday cherished by one and all
Of family, cheer, and snow fall
When people give
Without thought of recompense
These thoughts should live
They make true sense
Why only when in the eve of their lord
Do people see, love, and adore??
Should not we feel with heart and mind
Mingled as one with thoughts of mankind
Instead we see each other and sneer
Every other day of the year
We are too full of pride
In the shallowness of ourselves to we hide
We fear sharing, caring, love and hope
Can you tell me why this is so??
I don't understand, can not seem to see
Can not comprehend, the logic of society
A beggar we see, and wonder what he has done
But on Christmas we give freely, as if all are one
The homeless are seen, and away we do steer
Every other day of the year
But at this special time of year
We are happy and filled with cheer
We welcome our giving
And cherish all that are living
We help we can, giving with our all
And feel sad we when can't, afraid we shall fall
From the graces of society, for truly will it see
But only on the holidays, and the day of St. Nicky
Seems so hypocritical, seems so untrue
Are not the eyes of angels always on me and you?
It seems it should be year round
Every time you see
Every opportunity that's found
Should we fill with generosity??
We need to feel, see and hear
Every other day of the year
