RICK (THE TEMP) CAMPANELLI
MuchMusic's newest VJ.
From the first day that he walked into the CHUMCity Building as winner of
the 1994 "Be A Temp at MuchMusic" contest, Rick Campanelli vowed that he
would never leave. It's been a long hard road since then, trying to
convince the Much brass that his destiny was to be a VJ. But after two long
years, jobs in just about every area of City/Much/Bravo!, and countless
tearful goodbye parties (only to find him at work the next day in a new
department), Rick the Temp has finally become a full-time VJ.
Keen-eyed viewers will recognize Rick the Temp from the many promotional spots he's starred in over the past two years, and from his on-air audition as a finalist in last year's MuchMusic cross-Canada VJ search. His other Much duties have included rewinding tapes, answering phones, stuffing envelopes, sweeping floors, wrangling VJs at MuchMusic special events, pulling cable on ElectricCircus and working as a unit assistant on FAX.
Rick the Temp hails from Hamilton, Ontario where he attended St. Mary's high
school and is an honours graduate of Brock University, Phys. Ed. The
youngest of four, Rick moved to Toronto when MuchMusic rented him a downtown
apartment as part of his Temp Contest winnings. He's now a permanent
resident but goes home every weekend to pick up his weekly supply of Mamma
Campanelli's spaghetti sauce.
"I'm a fan of all types of music -- especially alternative. My favourite band of all time is Pearl Jam. I also like to bodysurf to Killjoys, Junkhouse, Teenage Head, Our Lady Peace, Rainbow Butt Monkeys and Silverchair."
