Why This Page?

Welcome to my webpage on religions. I feel that it is important for religious people to recognize the differences and similarities among the different pathways of faith. My dream of a perfect world is not one where all are of one religion, but where all learn to accept faith choices of others.

(Pictured above is a photograph of a button I received from a member of the Baha'i faith)

"Every person shall dwell under their vine and under their own fig tree undisturbed. For the Mentor of Israel has spoken."

---Micah 5:4 (Judaism and Christianity)

"O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honored of you in God's sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All Aware."

-- Quran (49-13) (Islam)

"Consider the flowers of the garden; though differing in kind, color, form and shape, yet, inasmuch as they are refreshed by the waters of one spring, revived by the breath of one wind, invigorated by the rays of one sun, this diversity increaseth their charm and addeth unto their beauty."

"We must conclude that color is not the standard and estimate of judgment and that it is of no importance, for color is accidental in nature. The spirit and intelligence of man is essential.... Therefore, be it known that color or race is of no importance. He who is the image and likeness of God, who is the manifestation of the bestowals of God, is acceptable at the threshold of God -- whether his color be white, black or brown; it matters not. Man is not man simply because of bodily attributes. The standard of divine measure and judgment is his intelligence and spirit.... .

--- Teachings of Abdu'l-Bahá (Baha'i)

"He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile."

---Book of Mormon (2 Nephi 26:33)(Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints).

“An act to make another happy, inspires the other to make still another happy, and so happiness is aroused and abounds. Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared."

---The Buddha (Buddhism)
