Renew Arecibo Observatory.

It will take one half a billion dollars to renew Arecibo astronomical observatory deep space telemetry and radio atronomy antenna to enable it to return to operation and again supply cosmic universal information, confirming scientific observations and revealing untold cosmic secrets. Funds raised for the base of the Statue of Liberty - specifically LIberty Island and the stone pedestal upon which stands Liberty Enlightening the World - was supplied by the pennies collected by children across America and the world a century ago. We can do it again!

$½ Billion can renew Arecibo pennies at a time. Make Arecibo Great Again!

Arecibo Observatory holds great scientific, cultural and economic significance for Puerto Rico and the scientific community, inspiring education in STEM fields. It is expected that the site will continue this legacy as a world-class science education facility.

Since August 14, 2024, the management of the antenna site, located above a natural geologic feature shaped like a bowl, is temporarily closed to the public and has transitioned to new site management. The site will reopen to the public when on-site support becomes available, such as after a proposed Arecibo Center for STEM Education and Research (ACSER) award and associated start-up period on a budget, which
similar to the receiver cage, also hangs from a shoestring.

Think Cosmically, Act Globaly

Fundraising is not the intention of RenewAO.org. Instead we are a clarion call for recruiting those who share the vision of Arecibo renewed, enabling the next advancements in radio-astronomy as the original support structure is rebuilt and funding perpetual advancements in the sensors the structure suspends above the dish reflector. At the moment the future of the former space telescope ruins appears bleak as accepting the site located in Puerto Rico as a mere shadow of its former glory, current funding can barely maintain the near perfect natural bowl for it's task as merely a bungalow hosting a STEM science center, a fence and a caretaker.

Management of the Puerto Rico Coordination Zone (PRCZ) has transitioned to the U.S. National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO). National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center (NAIC) services are being taken offline, but NRAO plans to host the Arecibo Observatory legacy website; soon that hyperlink will be added to this page.

Details about proposing to use infrastructure on-site, including scientific equipment, will be available at a later date.

You can make a difference. Participate to rally each person you know to contribute ideas of spreading this gospel. Lemonade Stands, car washes, bake sales, appeals by advertising campaigns for others to join the renewal activities such as an ad in Social Studies materials distributed free of charge to classrooms in this and all nations. These are an iota of the possibilities concieved to gather the planning, materials, erect the colapsed support tower & improve the infrastructure necessary to provide for yearly visitors by the thousands and employ the staff ranging from custodians to astrophysicists,
because many hands make distant light work.
