I have been attending Palomar Community College (located about 45 minutes north of San Diego, CA) since the Fall of '98. Some say that it is one of the top 3 woodworking colleges in the country. I tend to agree. The teachers have been great. I started attending there when I was 14 and I didn't feel very comfortable there - I am the only kid in the woodworking program at Palomar. But the teachers and the students helped me get over that quickly. I have taken 3 classes and am taking my 4th this semester. I have made 4 projects (as shown below), a clock, a night stand, a music stand, and shaker boxes. This semester I am taking a shop maintenence/layout class. I am currently purchasing various tools required in a cabinet shop. I still need a few more machines, one of which I plan on building - a vertical panel saw. I would recommend to just about anyone that if they do plan on going into woodworking as a hobby or career, that they attend Palomar
