Tales of Something-Something

by Matt E. Lewis

The sound that issued forth was steely, to begin with. A strong start. It then began to cascade in intensity and opulence; yes, agony, but not physical pain. It rose into a fierce structure, like an iron ship made of spikes - anger, sorrow, yes! All were present. I was then struck with a shockingly electric, brilliant sensation. It was uncontrolled and impossibly complex. The sound filled my eyes with all the colors of the spectrum, but somehow had made them all black. It had penetrated to the deep, unctuous caverns of the soul. Yes, yes! It climaxed, reaching a pitch reserved for the most unseen of the eldritch creatures. I gasped, clutching my heart for strength, but finding none. That was it!
