Sorry, I meant "Container Culture"

These fragrant magnolias unlike the southern magnolias are not aggressive growers and make good center pieces when grown in containers. Even if you have a garden, you may still want to pot these trees in a container and move them around. Smaller trees grow well in 2 gallon size containers and can then be transplanted to 5 gallon pots after 2 years. And it can grow for another several years before moving onto a 15 gal pot, or its time to put in in the ground!

    REASONS for Container Culture:

            1. You can move it anywhere you want to avoid adverse conditions.

            2. Your area has cold winters.

            3. You can move it anywhere you want to perfume the area when its blooming.

            4. When you travel you can drop it off at your friend's place.

            5. You dont have a garden.

If you live in a foggy humid area like San Francisco, unglazed pots are best and allow the roots to breath. But in areas that are hot and dry, especially during summer, glazed or plastic pots are a better choice. Potted speicmens make beautiful center pieces.

I once saw a beautiful specimen in a 12-inch unglazed Chinese ceramic pot. The dealer wanted $200!
