A Poem For Robin

I once knew a girl named Robin,
but only from afar could I see
little did I know way back then
that she was a whole lot like me.
She was so soft spoken
and seemed so gentle in her heart
but then the day came and she went
ever since that we've been apart.

Losing contact and growing up,
all the things in life we experience as we grow
learning that in life there are many things
that for some reason we are never told.
We try to learn what we can,
we suffer that when we must...
but always in search of that soulmate
that someday we can truly trust.

To find someone that we can share
our most inner thoughts without fear,
someone to gaze deeply into their eyes
knowing in our hearts will always be near.
Without judgment or criticism,
without expectations and demanding
not necessarily always in agreement
but someone who accepts and is with understanding.

I now know this woman, named Robin,
who from my long ago past has come.
I'm amazed to think of all of life's miracles
I am truly experiencing one.
Though our paths have been different
they have been parallel in what we've been through.
I am so pleased to have made this reconnection
and to have the opportunity again to know you.
