As a power-saving move during a serious shortage of Hydro-electric power throughout Ontario, NORTH YONGE radial cars replaced by diesel buses effective 4:30 a.m., running on the same schedule. Forty-five passenger 1180-series GM diesel buses replace 44-seat cars 408 to 415, taken over from Hydro's MIMICO line. Effective with the change of equipment, the route was changed to operate both ways via the high-level bridge on Yonge Boulevard instead of on Yonge Street through Hogg's Hollow. Service on Yonge Street between Glen Echo and Yonge Boulevard provided by the new YORK MILLS bus.

January 10th, 1949

New schedule with some buses routed to Stop 6 only and called LANSING. Effective this date the following loops are used: At Lansing (Sheppard) via west on Elmhurst Avenue, south on Kennington and east on Harlandale Avenue; at Willowdale via east on Kingsdale Avenue, north on Doris Avenue and west on Parkview Avenue; at Finches via east on Olive Avenue, north on Kenneth Avenue and west on Finch Avenue; and at Langstaff via east on Benson Avenue, north on Church Street and west on Langstaff Road (Highway 7).
