13 BERRY ROAD Route History

March 10th, 1947

Service inaugurated on Prince Edward Drive south of Bloor Street. (See KINGSWAY South Kingsway.)

July 1st, 1954

General rerouting by the new Toronto Transit Commission. BERRY ROAD bus commences, running from Humber loop via west on the Queensway, north on Parklawn, west on Berry Road and north on Prince Edward, looping clockwise via west on Meadowvale Drive, north on Grenview Boulevard and east on Bloor. Service operated from Parkdale garage.

January 9th, 1956*

Due to construction of new homes and apartments on Berry, service is discontinued on Parklawn, and extended east of Parklawn and south on Stephen Drive instead.

November 26th, 1956

30:00 minute headway provided by one bus in base service. Two buses during the morning rush hour and three in the afternoon give 15:00 and 10:00 minute headways respectively, over 6.5 round trip miles.

March 31st, 1957

Assigned route number 13.

April 1st, 1957

New multiple-route transfers in use. 13 BERRY ROAD becomes a sub-route of 41 KEELE.

July 27th, 1958

Sunday service replaced by an extension of the 2 ANGLESEY bus, from the Kipling Avenue/Princess Margaret Boulevard area to Humber loop.

August 25th, 1963

Last day of combined Anglesey Sunday service. Commencing September 1st, 1963, 13 BERRY ROADbuses resume providing all service south of Bloor.

January 23rdth, 1966

Operation transferred to the new Queensway garage.

May 11th, 1968

In conjunction with the opening of the Bloor-Danforth subway extensions, 13 BERRY ROAD buses now run east along Bloor to Old Mill Station, discontinuing the on-street looping via Meadowvale and Grenview.

April 27th, 1969 20:00 minute headway provided by two buses in base service. Three buses give 12:00 minute serivce during rush hours, and one bus runs half-hourly on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

May 25th, 1969

At the request of Etobicoke Council, a through service is provided from south of Bloor to north of Bloor. During regular hours the route is combined with 66 PRINCE EDWARD and known as 66 PRINCE EDWARD-BERRY ROAD. Now 13 BERRY ROAD buses only run during rush hours.

February 10th, 1970

The Commission confirms the permanent operation of the combined 66 PRINCE EDWARD-BERRY ROAD during regular hours.

April 25th, 1970

Last day of operation of the 13 BERRY ROAD route name and number. Now merged with Prince Edward service at all times and known as 66 PRINCE EDWARD.

*Service change may have occurred earlier.
