Astragalus is rich in polysaccharides which are basically the main nutrient that feeds the body. It has been demonstrated to increase energy by reduction of liver toxicity thus, increasing vitality and strength by the elimination of toxins, supporting the liver and spleen functions. As such, it acts as a heart tonic, lowering blood pressure, dilates blood vessels and increases endurance to weakened hearts. Astragalus is known for its supporting of T-cell function and overall immune strengthening at a deep level. Known as an adaptogen herb, it has been credited with long life of the cell. Current research has shown that Astragalus increases the strength of the T-cells, the white blood cells of the body that attack pathogens that cause disease in the body. Using Astragalus increases the level of interferons and antibodies throughout the body. Due to its strong immune enhancing ability, it aids in recovery from illness and surgery. It also fights fatigue by nourishing exhausted adrenal glands.
