Not a ton of information is known about the sectoid species because they live in large hives that are mostly connected through underground tunnels and caverns. The only way one can ever know if a sectoid civilization is near is by their large, protruding center hives that lie in the Madradgar waste. These central hives are some of the best guarded structures in Zeotopia though, and few ever get close enough to see one up close before succumbing to a swarm of sectoid warriors and never being seen again. The sectoid are not only a ruthless, cunning and very strong race, but also incredibly numerous. They lack any technology whatsoever, but more then make up for it in numbers and pure strength. Most carry no weapons, or very simple and basic ones, but they are nearly useless to the sectoid warrior whose body is a living weapon. The perfect warrior: strong, unrelenting, smart, and best of all, fearless. You can shoot off numerous limbs on a sectoid warrior and they will keep coming. If you manage to decapitate one's head, they will still come at you even if it is in vain , flailing about hoping to take out whatever they can before they soon after die. You will never see a sectoid warrior retreat, they fight until death. This means if you engage a hoard of sectoids, you must kill ever last one, less you be killed yourself. For this reason, no sectoid prisoners have ever been taken alive making the race even more mysterious. They are tremendously loyal to their Queen, and have yet to ever align themselves with any other race, though there always is the possiblity. For the most part they only fight for themselves, with only their own kind and no other.

So far two main types of sectoid warriors have been spotted in the Madradgar waste. First is the more secretive stealth type of soldier in the sectoid army, the bulky and somewhat cumbersome Dune Stinger. This soldier has a very thick armor carapace not only on it's chest, but also it’s head and claws. This natural body armor can provide limited deflection of gun shots before cracking and allowing the attacker to hit internal organs. The best way to take out these tough warriors is to shoot out two or more of their legs. This can severely slow down a swarm of dune stingers in their frenzied attacks and allow more time to damage the vital organs and eventually kill them off. If a dune stinger is allowed to get into melee range it is pretty well over for whoever is on the other end of the attack. Dune Stinger melee attacks include their powerful claws that can cut a man in half, their bull rush that can knock even the sturdiest of vehicles over, and their worst attack, their tail stinger. If you are stung by a dune stinger it is highly advised that you kill yourself before you go paralyzed, which usually takes less then 5 minutes. If not you will experience pain beyond anything imaginable, all the while not being able to move your body at all. If you are still alive after the battle you will be carried back to the sectoid hive. Here you will be placed in one of hundreds of pitch black chambers, barely kept alive in your paralyzed and agonizing condition until you are finally eaten by the sectoid hive. Another more favored tactic the dune stinger warrior employs is their lie in wait stealth attack. If you are wandering through the Madradgar waste you better watch your step unless you want to become dinner for a sectoid. The dune stingers utilize their perfect sandy brown coloring to blend in to the ground and hide from enemies. They will bury themselves and strike with their claws or stinger when the time is right, just as you are near or on top of them and it is to late. Outside a central hive their may be hundreds upon hundreds of dune stingers just waiting as traps for any who would venture to close. Once you have been attacked it is said that thousands will arise from the sandy dirt and swarm their enemy and tear him or her to shreds in a matter of seconds if they are hungry.

The next type of warrior that has been seen in a sectoid battle is the Bone Cutter. These creatures serve as the main staple of soldier in the Sectoid army, though they are not near as bulky as their dune stinger brethren, nor posses the raw strength. What they lack in strength and armor they more then make up for in battle with their deadly quickness, agility, and incredible numbers. They have large florescent wings that give them the ability to fly long distances before having to come back down. In battle they are often seen flying in huge swarms towards their opponents. They have been seen in such large swarms that they have actually blocked out the sun during some battles as they fly towards their enemy. As mentioned the only disadvantage these troops have compared to the dune stinger soldier type is their armor carapace is not near as thick. Usually a round of 10-20 well placed shots will be enough to crack their carapace and cause some serious damage. This does not mean they are easy to kill by any means though. Not only can these soldiers fly fairly fast, they are extremely agile in combat making them much tougher targets to hit. They have large scythe claws that can slice right through metal and flesh alike. When these soldiers are not in battle they are used as scouts or put on guard.

A third sub species of sectoid has been said to be seen on the battlefield, though it has yet to be confirmed and put in the Sapien Database. It is said to resemble a large spider and is much more elite then either the dune stinger or bone cutter soldier. Few who have seen this beast have lived to tell about it, and those that have, are much to traumatized to ever have talked about it.
