Strategy

Students conclude their unit with a cooking class.

 

The cooking class will held in a cooking room.

 

Students will be cooking an ethnic food of fried rice.

 

 

Students will be taught the social and cultural understanding of food and will experience making an ethnic food.

 

 

 

Students will be broken into groups of four and would have been told the previous lesson of what ingredients each student had to bring. Each student would not have to bring much at all

 

Teacher would be supplying the rice and the cooking room would have all equipment.

 

Students are to follow a recipe provided and can eat their meal after if they want.

 

Students will then conclude the class with some cultural and social meanings of food.

Lesson outcome: Students will understand the cultural and social meanings of food.
