MY BIRTH STORY

My labor was induced on Tuesday, September 23rd 2003 due to high blood pressure. I labored for 15 1/2 hours and pushed for about 1 and a half hours. It honestly didn't seem that long though, thank God!

A few hours before I delivered I spiked a temperature of 100.4 then to 100.8. The doctors knew it was best to hurry and get Jayden out as soon as possible. I started pushing shortly after this and was told I may end up with a C-section. I was not happy and ready to give up knowing that I did all that work for nothing! Fortunetly, my doctor wouldn't give up and I ended up pushing a bit more and Jayden was born.

Jayden was also born with a slight temperature and was taken to the nursery shortly after birth so they could start an I.V. and get him on antibiotics. Apparently the temperature spike was my body fighting him off as a 'germ'. Funny how this child can grow inside me for 9 months and my body fights him off as a germ within the last hour or two! When my body fought him off it sent antibodies into his blood stream which cause his temperature and a bad case of Jaundice.

I was released from the hospital on Saturday, September 27th but because of Jayden's Jaundice he had to remain under the Bili Lights for another 24 hours. So, as hard as it was we had to leave the hospital without our son...talk about hard! We went back a few more times for some feedings throughout the night.

On Sunday, September 28th we were told Jayden would be released. We were so ecstatic to be able to take our baby boy home, FINALLY! We had to continue to go to the lab for the next 3 days so have his Bili levels checked to make sure his Jaundice was going down. On Wednesday we received results that were lower then Tuesday and knew that Jayden was now in the clear!
