Summary
Tom cannot hide the fact that he has been shot (Episode Three) from Ellie and he is forced to admit his real name and identity. Meanwhile, Zoe and Danny are watching an anti-American demonstration when they discover that the legendary MI5 agent, Peter Salter, is undercover. When Harry tells them to forget it, a suspicious Zoe and Danny inform Tom. Tom returns to work on the case but soon starts to suspect that Peter's loyalty may be questionable.
The Good
Anthony Stewart Head is great as Peter Salter. He gives the character a sense of depth and history and his scenes with Tom are delightful. He also provides some background information about Tom since it was Peter who recruited him into the service. Peter's love affair provides an interesting parallel to Tom's relationship with Ellie.
Zoe discovers that a corrupt Tessa is running phantom agents and pocketing their payoffs. Danny’s credit card fraud is discovered.
This is the first we get to see of MI6. Although this is a joint-operation, it soons leads to an amusing turf war of words between MI5’s Harry and MI6’s Jools Sivitar. Hugh Laurie is wonderfully insulting and superior. A character we all love to hate.
The Bad
I was not impressed with Peter’s lover, Andrea, or with the anarchists whom Peter was supposed to be infiltrating. I thought Andrea was much too young and too weak a character to stand up against Anthony Stewart Head as Peter. There is also a strange scene with a homeless man which never gets explained.
