Riadh's Special Moves

This page is a tribute to the soccer legend of Nueces Gang, my friend and brother, Riadh Zaiter. Born in Tunisia, used to live in Italy and speaks French; Riadh has the scoring ability of Tunisian’s Ziad Jaziri, the defensive technique of Italian’s Paolo Maldini, the flair of French’s Zinedine Zidane and most importantly, a mind of his own. The combination of this recipe made Riadh the center of talks in the street after every game or whenever there were talks about soccer in our gangs.

Truly, he commands respect and admiration from the gangs for his ability to stir up the game, to create the impossible and his ‘never say die’ attitude during the game. And we attribute all his soccer actions as Riadh’s Special Moves. Amazingly, he seems to produce these special moves everytime he plays. And we just loved to watch the moves and could not get enough of it. It’s not like the special moves work all the time, it’s just that it is special! Luckily, I manage to capture some of them on camera. Here are some of the Special Moves from our one and only, Riadh ‘the Mean Machine’ Zaiter.

(The name Mean Machine was given to him based upon a character in a soccer movie that he loves so much, Mean Machine [starred Vinnie Jones].)
