Matt is the newest member of Townsend. He was born on July 17, 1980 and is 21 years old. Some of you may recognize him from the TV show Making the Band. Matt made it into the top 25, but an unfortunate accident on his college track team hurt his back and made even walking difficult. Needless to say, Matt couldn't keep up with the dance moves that were expected to be learned. But it all worked out for the best because he's better now and a part of Townsend!
Matt was born in Colorado but moved to Salem, Oregon in 1990 to help take care of his grandmother. He has a 24 year old brother, a 13 year old sister, and a 9 year old brother. Up until just recently Matt attended Western Oregon University where he was on the track team. He competed in the decathalon there. Matt was suppossed to go to nationals to compete in the high jump, but he hurt his back before that could happen.
In the past Matt has worked at Gap, Walmart, as a sound technician and a cast member at DisneyWorld. He's also an assistant coach for a high school track team. Matt says his favorite color pretty much changes daily, but orange is up there on his list. Matt's favorite cartoon characters are Space Ghost and "um the one with the big hair and huge muscles" (Johnny Bravo). He loves chocolate and jelly beans. Matt is a big dog lover. He's really into sports and loves college track, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, and pretty much anything. To put it in his words, he's all about sports!
Some of Matt's musical influences are Take 6 (not to be confused with the boyband Take5), Brian Mcknight, and Micheal Jackson. The CD in his player right now is Take6. His favorite song right now is One Last Cry by Brian McKnight.
