Yikes!
|
Yikes! STEPHEN and MIKEY
BOYZONE (only Stephen here... ~Annika) step up to the TOTP Lottery machine,
ready to answer those colour-coded questions. Reckon it's time to set the
balls rolling then!
¤
Do you believe fate has one special partner in store for you?
Hmm, I dunno (thinks) but probably yes. There's
one special person for everyone, but I reckon I'm yet to meet them. I hope
I meet her very soon. Very soon...
¤
Are you 100 per cent fulfilled by Boyzone?
I've written loads of songs. Another artist might be interested in them
at some point, but it just hasn't happened yet.
¤
Who makes the rudest noises on the tour bus?
We all have our moments but (does v loud fake snoring noise, the whispers)
Mikey is the worst. Keith is very loud cos he's always singing and making
noise, but Mikey is terrible. He snores really, really loudly.
¤
What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Orange juice, some brown bread, a cup of coffee and some Weetabix. I love
breakfasts like that!

¤
Are you sick of travelling the world yet?
No! Going round the world is a good laugh. I still enjoy seeing new countries
and new cities.
Mikey: (V helpfully.) I'm sick of it.
It's not your question. Anyway (to TOTP person)
are you sick of travelling up and down the Tube yet?!
¤
When was the last time you snuck out of your Boyzone commitments?
Never. I'm the only one who has never taken days off sick from Boyzone commitments.
Shane: (Passing by and butting in.) I haven't!
Oh yes, you have too! You've just had a fortnight off to go on honeymoon!
Shane: I booked that fortnight off a year in advance.
I didn't cancel anything!
Hmph! Anyway, as I said, I'm the only one who hasn't cancelled anything
to do with the band and I'm quite proud of that.
Shane: I remember at least three times you've done
it.
That's a lie!
¤
What was the last piece of advice you mum gave you?
She told me to look after myself and be happy. She knows I'm just getting
over the flu and she's been worried about me. Today's the first day I've
felt better actually!
¤
You all have separate lives outside Boyzone. It's really just a working
relationship these days isn't it?
You're very wrong! It's much more than I working relationship. It's a family
relationship, it's a friendship. I go out with the lads when we're in town.
We call each other up out of work as well as in work. We're as close as
we ever were, so there yo are.
¤
A lot of Where We Belong was recorded by individual members of Boyzone.
Did you want to be more involved on your own?
No, I'm happy with what I've contributed to all the albums. If someone is
working by themselves it's their thing, their song. I go into a studio with
a producer, Ronan will work somewhere else, we all do. I'm very pleased
with what I've personally done, and that's the best thing you can be at
the end of the day.
¤
Is your life outside Boyzone easier or more difficult because you're famous?
Sometimes easy, sometimes hard. It can be difficult when you come home and
the rest of your friends have gone their own way. You're left to deal with
that on your own but usually it's not a hassle.
¤
If you parents went out who was your baby sitter and did you give them a
hard time?
If my parents went out it would be the eldest in the family who baby-sat,
so it was my brother Mark. We were alright as long as we got to stay up
and watch movies and eat sweets and crisps 'til late. We did give him a
hard time occasionally. We had a few scraps, bashed each other every now
and then. It was good fun though!
¤
Have you ever refused to do a Boyzone task?
Oh yes. I've been asked to do things and said no, I'd rather not. They asked
me to dress up as a chicken once. I said, 'Chicken? Ha! No way! Turkey,
year, but not a chicken.* Harrumph! What happened? (Whispers.) They asked
Ronan to do it instead and he did, phhrrrt!
