Chapter 1
Meet JC of *N Sync
“Today our musical guests are *N Sync and Britney Spears. They’ll be out in just a minute to talk about their collaboration.”
After they were announced the guys of *N Sync and Britney Spears went out and sat down. They were at Live! With Regis to talk about their collaboration. They had recently done a song together for Britney’s newest album. It was her first single off the album. The guys were still deciding whether or not they would have it on their upcoming album.
It was the first show they were going to in promotion for the single and albums, the first of six. They would tape Donny and Marie on Tuesday, the Today Show on Wednesday, the Late Show Thursday, TRL Friday, when the video premiered, and Good Morning America the following Wednesday. It was Monday. So much ahead of them.
As Live! With Regis came back from commercial Regis introduced everyone separately. “*N Sync and Britney Spears, doesn’t get any better than that. JC of *N Sync! Justin, Chris, and Joey of *N Sync. Lance of *N Sync, and Britney Spears.”
The interview went on from there. It ended in a performance of the collaboration, “I Wanna Believe”. It was a beautiful song. They all enjoyed making it. Luckily, the rumors about Justin and Britney had died down, or else they wouldn’t have been able to do the song. It was a love song with a twist.
JC felt odd while he sang the song. All he could think about was how Regis had introduced him: JC of *N Sync. Not just JC, but JC of *N Sync. Didn’t anyone think of him as who he was anymore, or would he always be JC of *N Sync? It bugged him. He wanted everyone to think of him is JC Chasez, and JUST JC Chasez. He wasn’t just JC of *N Sync. He was a normal guy. He wanted to be thought of that way.
***Two Hours Later***
JC was walking through the mall with his security guard. He wanted to pick up a couple of things and thought it would be fun, yet dangerous, to get them at the mall. As he walked by a group of teenage girls he thought, Oh great! Now I’m gonna get mobbed. But what happened hurt him even more.
“Oh my God! You’re JC of *N Sync!” one of the girls yelled and ran up to him. “Can I have an autograph?” she looked up at him adoringly.
“Sure,” he said trying to hide his sadness.
“Thanks!”
He signed it JC Chasez.
“Um… can you put ‘of *N Sync’ on there? I won’t know who it is if you don’t,” the girl asked innocently.
JC’s face dropped noticeably. He looked up at her. “Oh, yeah. Sure.” He signed it, and she walked away leaving him depressed.
The whole way through the mall he wondered if he would ever be thought of as JC Chasez again. Couldn’t anyone realize that he wasn’t just JC of *N Sync?
