Chapter Eight

We talked for a long time and we had so much fun. He was so funny and sweet. I was growing more and more infatuated every minute. I wanted Nick so badly. More bad thoughts entered my mind and at one point, I stopped paying attention to what he was saying.

“Earth to Emily! Are you still there?” he teased.

“Hmm? Oh! Sorry, I sort of zoned.”

“Am I boring you?” he looked hurt.

“Oh no! I’m just a bit preoccupied.”

“I know what we can do that’s fun.”

//Don’t tempt me, Blondie// “What?”

“Wanna play truth or dare?”

“Are we in eighth grade? I stopped playing that like seven years ago!”

“So? It’s fun and it can pass the time.”

“Well…” I was giving in and he knew it.

“Great! Do you want to start or should I?”

“Um, I will.” I said.

“Ok!” he was so excited. I stifled a giggle.

“Truth or dare?”

“Oh really? What were they about?” I asked curiously.

“Oh no. You used up your turn. It’s my turn to ask a question. Truth or dare?”

“I dare you to sing a Spice Girl song with the movements and everything.” He grinned evilly at me.

“You sick man. Don’t I need music for that?” I challenged.

“You can’t worm your way out of this. I saw your CD player and cd collection that you brought. Pretty heavy on Backstreet.” He smiled.

“What can I say? I’m a fan. But you know, I didn’t recognize you until after the avalanche. I wasn’t thinking. Fine, let me get everything out.”

I walked to my bedroom and took out my portable. Jamming my Spice Girls cd in it, I walked out again. Thinking carefully, I chose my favorite song, ‘Last Time Lover’. The beat was awesome and the words were sexy. I let myself go and moved my body to the music. I began to sing some too. My voice wasn’t that great but it wasn’t painful either. When the song ended, I looked at Nick only to see that he was breathing a little harder. This made me smile.

“What did you think? Did I fulfill my dare?” I looked at him innocently.

“Um, yeah. I’d say you have.” His voice was slightly strained. He regained composure quickly.

“My turn. Truth or dare?”

“I’ll go with dare this time.”

“Ok. I dare you to..."
