“Shh…” he said and pressed his lips to mine again. I was in heaven. His lips felt incredible against mine. Slowly, he moved down and kissed my jawline. I moaned softly. Nick smiled and moved even lower down my neck. My head reeled. All new sensations filled my body. Sensations I never felt with Peter. In my mind’s eye I saw that bastard standing there laughing at me telling me that Nick didn’t love me. That he only wanted me for sex and that I was even lousy at that. The mind’s image of me screamed at him, telling him he was wrong. That he didn’t deserve any of the love that I gave him. He disappeared and I opened my eyes. There was Nick, kissing me and looking at me with real emotion. Something I had never seen coming from a man. I brought his head back up and kissed him as passionately as I could and moved my lips to his ear.
“I want you,” I whispered. “Now.”
“Are you sure?” he breathed. He looked at me with love and concern.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my entire life.” My voice trembled as I said it but I looked at him determined.
He didn’t say anything. I thought for a moment that he didn’t want me anymore. That fear was laid to rest when he scooped me up off my feet and carried me to the bedroom. Very gently, he lay me down on the bed and kissed me on the forehead. He lit all the candles in the room and he let out a sigh when he turned to me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him, worriedly.
“Nothing. You’re so beautiful.” He smiled.
Slowly, he moved to the bed and on top of me. The weight of his body on mine was delightful. He was so kind. So tender and caring. With deliberate motions, he unbuttoned my shirt. He kissed the newly bare skin and opened it completely. I let out a soft moan as he kissed down my stomach. I pulled him up again and kissed those lips that I have thirsted for since he held me when I slept. We just laid there, exploring each others mouths. His tongue softly stroked mine, causing me to tremble. I felt an arm snake around my waist as he held me closer to him. My hands felt their way under his shirt and I caressed his stomach. He moaned against my mouth and moved closer, if that was possible. It was like that for what seemed like hours. We just lay there, exploring each other. All of a sudden I heard a voice. //My mind’s playing tricks on me// I thought. Then the voice came again. I broke away, breathlessly.
“What’s the matter?” Nick laid a hand on my shoulder.
“I heard a voice. Listen.” I put a finger on his lips to silence him.
“Nick! Emily! Are you down there?” the voice yelled out.
“Is that…” Nick asked.
“Can’t be…” I looked at him.
We sprang up and ran to the chimney. I buttoned my shirt again as we looked up. Sure enough, there was a man from the rescue team looking down.
“Oh thank God, we found them!!” he shouted to the others up there. “Don’t worry, we’re going to get you two out of there in no time!”
“We’re rescued!” I jumped up and down.
“Come on, let’s get our stuff together. They should be down to get us soon.”
We hugged happily and went to put everything away. Suddenly I felt sad. I was leaving him. We’d probably go our separate ways after that ladder came down and brought us back to civilization. I looked down and hastily wiped a tear away. I felt a pair of strong hands rest on my shoulders. Nick’s lips pressed against my ear.
“We’re not going to get separated. Just because we’re rescued it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of us. I love you.” He placed a kiss on my neck. I turned around and faced him, tears in my eyes.
“I love you too.” I whispered.
“Come on. There’s a ladder up there with our names on it.” He smiled.
“Oh, and we wouldn’t want them waiting, now would we?” I smirked.
“Of course not. Do you have all your stuff?”
“Yep. Let’s get out of here.”
We blew out all the candles out and went to the chimney where, sure enough, there was a rope ladder hanging down.
“Ladies first.” Nick bowed.
I giggled and slung my pack over my shoulder. My last thought before taking one last look around the cabin was //I’m going home//
