Chapter Twelve

The days went by like a dream. A really good dream. Annette and Nick went on long walks on the beach at sunset and had long conversations on the living room floor, talking about anything and everything. All the time, Nick was giving her those looks. The same look he gave her since they first made love. She still couldn’t place it but it made her feel happy so she didn’t question it. Annette wanted him to look at her like that for as long as possible. One night, while they were talking and laughing, Nick’s phone rang.

“Hello…Oh hey Brian…No just sitting here with my friend…Yeah, we’re having fun…Sure, see you then.”

“Oh no! That’s not it at all! You see, I want to keep you as a surprise for a while until the guys come. The thing is, I ran out of excuses so I decided to just say I was hanging out with a friend. If you think about it, it’s not that far from the truth. I have so much fun with you. You’re fun, bright and you have this fire I just love. So, will you forgive me?” He looked at her anxiously.

“I don’t know…” she pretended to be unconvinced.

Nick smirked and leaned in to kiss her. Not just any kiss. It was one of those kisses he knows she can’t resist.

“Ok, I forgive you.” Annette smiled wide.

He looked at her again. That look. She loved that look. She leaned him and kissed him. He returned it and moved closer. They just sat there kissing…
