Track 4

After the 'hook-up' and the sound check things went relativly slowly, not boring that word can nevr be applied to a day at Grandma's especially not with more than five people total in the house but it was lazy. Every person sat or lied down in the family room in front of the TV. Completly (well almost) covering the floor were Joey, Allison and Justin. Grandma sat in the chair in the corner by the window. Grace and Lance sat together on the sofa and Brandi was on the other end. Chris took the chair between an end table and a small tree with his feet propped up on the sofa. Susan and JC sat at the piano where every now and again a soft tune could be heard first low then high or vice versa. After a little while JC left the piano bench to join the people on the floor. Brandi was curled up sleeping in the corner of the couch while Grace and Lance had fallen asleep on eachother.Everybody on the floor were fast asleep and Grandma had long since fallen asleep. Susan noticed the entire room was no longer concious and she quietly stood up, stretched and walked into the kitchen for a soda. On her way in she literally ran into (or rather walked into) Chris who had had the same idea about six minutes earlier while she was still playing on the piano working on a song she and Brandi had 'finished' earlier that day while waiting for the guys to show up.

"Oh! Hey Chris, sorry I didn't notice you leave," she apologized.

Chris laughed "Naw, it was my bad really. I should start to watch where I'm going. Because see now you're all wet and I need to go refill my soda."

"Awe that's alright I've got some clothes that are dry upstairs and besides I was going to get a soda just...eh...not in this...uh...fashion" she joked.

"Oh! Well if you put it that way..." Chris began nonchalantly, "No, I'm kidding.but seriously I am sorry." he said and Susan left and went upstairs to change.

After Susan went upstairs Chris headed for the kitchen to refill his soda and pour one for Susan to make up for drenching her jersey with coke. When he finished this short task he plopped down dejectedly in a chair at the counter.

"Oh yeah good one Chris!" he told himself, "Yeah real slick dude what was that?" he asked himself incredulously. He was quietly scolding himself while watching the stairs to make sure no particular people came down and heard him talking to himself

Meanwhile upstairs Susan was also scolding herself "Real good Susie-Loo ever heard of nonchalance? Because if you have it sure wasn't very evident dancing around down there like some giddy little psycho bugger!" Susan scolded herself as she changed then instructed, "Okay lets go back down but you had better calm down." and with that she left the bedroom and went downstairs. Just before she cleared the wall she saw Chris slumped down in a chairquietly talking to himself, but when she did clear the wall he sat up and gave her the biggest smile he could.

"Hey! You look...well drier!" he said in an overly cheerful voice, "I poured you a soda to make up for getting your clothes wet. Is that okay?"

"Yeah, thanks! that's nice of you," She smiled and accepted the pop that was handed to her. Then an almost awkward silence fell over the two adults. Then suddenly-as if on cue- a welcome distraction, well sounded, from the other room.
