A few minutes later Lance nervously knocked on the open bedroom door. She turned and gave him a shaky lopsided grin. He pointed out the door and said, "JC told me you wanted to talk to me. What's up?" he asked as he took a seat on the bed opposite the one she was sitting on.
"Lance," she began, "Lance, umm, why didn’t you tell me?"
"Tell you what? That I liked you?" he asked and she nodded. "Well, I would have but I mean, you are head over heels about Joey and I didn’t want to bother you with extra stress." He grinned, well sort of. Then he asked "Why?"
"Well because you see, because now I feel like, so cold and heartless, I mean, you got into this thing knowing you were going to be left for one of your friends. One of the guys you see every single day and that is so incredibly sweet of you but you really shouldn’t have because it is going to… I don’t know, but I imagine it will hurt." Grace explained while not explaining anything at all.
"Grace, what exactly are you rambling about, girl?" Lance asked.
"Well, Joey said he likes me too and now that means I'm going to have to, you know, break this off and I feel really really bad about this too." Grace said looking as though she might just break down and cry.
"Grace, I knew this was coming since you came up here and I really am okay with the whole situation. I might be a little sensitive about it for a few days but I am not going to kill myself over a one-day relationship totally based on a lie. Besides, it never even was love, just a little crush at the most, no biggie." Lance shrugged.
"Seriously? You're not lying?"
"Of course. Why would I lie? 'Lance hates liars' remember?" he laughed.
"So? It is possible for one to hate himself you know."
"Yes, I know that’s possible but the question remains, what motivation do I have to lie about that?"
"Well…umm…you might…"
"To make you not feel guilty?" he asked trying to finish her sentence. Her only reply was a sheepish look. "Well don’t worry Grace, I will survive. I have a life after Grace. Don’t worry about me. Now lets go back downstairs and you can…I don’t know, sit in Joey's lap or something." He joked. "Heck, I might just be compelled to scare the crap out of my dear friend Justin but…eh…lets go." They both laughed and went down stairs to join the rest of the house.
