Chapter 2

Nick sat quietly in his seat onthe airplane. He reached under his chair and pulled out a small bag. He opened the bag and took out a small black box. He opened the box to reveal the most beautiful diamond ring.

"Is that for your girlfriend?", the woman next to him asked.

Hmmmm..... she looks very familiar.

"Yeah, I'm planning on taking her to the place where we first met for a week after my best friend's wedding and I'm gonna propose to her there."

"How sweet!! That's a beautiful ring. She's lucky to have someone like you."

"Thanks."

The seatbelt signs came on and the pilot announced that they would be landing in a few minutes.

Nick had been waiting in the airport for the past 30 minutes. He was worrying that he might get spotted or that maybe Brian forgot about him. Someone tapped him from behind, interrupting his train of thought. Great, that's probably some fan.

"Excuse me?? I've noticed that you were waiting here for a long time and my ride just got here, so you want us to drop you off??"

"Sure, if it's no trouble. Thanks."

"No problem. By the way, my name is Shantel Williams."

"Nick..... Carter", he answered, praying that she wasn't a fan.

"Ok Nick. Let's go!"

They made their way to the car and she stuck her head in the window.

"Hey, can we give this guy a ride?"

"Sure.", a voice Nick knew too well answered back.

"Brian??!!??!??!?!"

"Nick??"

"You were supposed to pick me up!! If Shantel didn't offer me a ride I would've been here all day!!"

"Man, I'm sorry!! I thought you were coming tomorrow."

"Sorry to interrupt, but I'm gonna go to the bathroom. Bye!"

"K, cuz."

"Cuz???", Nick asked.

"Yeah, don't you remember her??"

"No...."

"You guys went out and broke up like 4 years ago. Remember you caught her cheating on you....??"

Nick winced as the painful memories came back.

"Ok guys. I'm back. Let's get a move on."

Nick shot her an angry look. This is going to be a VERY long week.
