Snowboard instructor Melissa Dougherty said the girls in her
snowboard class this week were floored when they bumped into
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his younger brother Aaron, also a
singer and teen heart
throb.
"The girls recognized the younger one first," Dougherty
said. "They rode on the lift with us and the girls were
going crazy.
"There was no more snowboard lessons after that. It was a
lesson in flirting," she said.
But what the snowboard students lost in goofy foot tips, they
made up in the stories they'll tell their envious friends when
they get home from their ski trip.
"It made the day for the kids," Dougherty said.
Teen pop singer Aaron
Carter is lining up an arena jaunt, dubbed Winter Party Tour,
slated to run through the early part of next year. The singer,
along with two other acts in his genre, Dream Street and Lindsay
Pagano, will begin the tour on Jan. 25 in Jacksonville, Fla.
The first batch of tickets go on sale on Saturday (12/8), and
on-sales will continue throughout December and January.
This month, Carter is playing two shows: a benefit in Florida and
a holiday radio gig in San Jose, Calif. Aaron raised over $32,000
for a kids' daycare in Marathon.
Aaron, the brother of Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, is touring in
support of his latest album, “Oh Aaron“ (Jive), his second
release in the United States. Like Backstreet Boys and 'NSync,
Aaron first found success in Europe. He piqued Americans'
interest in 2000 with the album “Aaron's Party (Come Get It)“
(Jive) and its title track.
“Oh Aaron“ features two duets with his brother--the title
track and “Not Too Young, Not Too Old.“ The 13-year-old, who
stands at 5-foot 10-inches, said he enjoyed recording with his
older brother Nick.
“We have a good time,“ Carter said.“ “He came in and did
his part. I came in and did my part. That was it. We never have
any big fights or anything. We get along very well.“
Carter said that his older brother supports him and gives him
advice on tackling problems that he had as a young performer.
He taught me--when I'm really scared of the audience and there's
a lot of people there--to just pick out two or three [people] and
visually get everybody else out of your sight,“ he said.
However, he said his relationship with his sister Leslie, who
joined him on his summer tour, is a bit rockier.
“She's 15 and going through that time where she's beating up
everybody,“ Carter said with a sigh.
Carter said he had a rough time on his summer tour because he
injured his knee. “I was singing one of my new songs and I fell
off the stage in San Antonio,“ he said. “It was the most
embarrassing moment that I ever had. It was like a 7-foot drop
and I landed smack on my knee, on the concrete, and fractured my
knee.“
Carter has two previously unreleased tunes on the soundtrack to
the animated movie “Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius“ (Jive)-- “AC's
Alien Nation“ and “Go Jimmy Go.“ Dream Street, who appears
on USA Network's “Go For It!“ recently released “Oh Yeah,“
the third single from its gold-certified CD self-titled debut
(UEG/Edel Entertainment). Member Jesse McCartney was nominated
for an Emmy earlier this year for his portrayal of Adam Chandler
Jr. on ABC-TV's “All My Children.“Lindsay Pagano's debut for
Warner Bros., “Love and Faith and Inspiration,“ will hit
stores on Dec. 18. The record was produced by and features songs
written by pop artist Jude Cole, who also worked with Lifehouse.

"Close Up Nick
Carter from Backstreet Boys
Does your Greatest Hits album mean BSB are splitting?
We're definitely not splitting up! We haven't had time to record
a new album, but we wanted to give our fans something back for
the support they've given us. This album represents the bst of
the last five years, so it's
a big deal.
If you could change one BSB moment, what would it be?
I wouldn't change anything. We've had the best experiences of our
lives. The only thing we'd want to do is make sure we appreciate
our achievements. Sometimes it gets crazy and things don't sink
in until after the time has
passed.
How do you all keep grounded?
We keep each other in check. If one of us is getting carried
away, the others will tell them to change their attitude. We're a
very strong unit and if we can't all agree on something, we won't
do it.
As a BSB, is it harder or easier to get girls?
It's easier to talk to girls because they kind of know us
already, so we just have to ask about them. They're usually quite
open but can be a bit shy and nervous, which makes it difficult.
Tell us a secret about yourself...
I don't want to put you off! Seriously, I'm not always the angel
that people think I am. I can be a bad boy sometimes. (Jalpa: Ha,
as if we ever believed he was ever an angel!)
What BSB lyric sums you up the best?
"As long as there'll be music, we'll be coming back
again." from Everybody (Backstreet's Back). We're always
asked why we're in a band and this is it!
We love music and performing. And as long as we have the ability
and the fans want us, we'll keep on going.
BSB's new single, Drowning, is out on 31 December."
