"Wait!" Annie said.
"What?" Zac asked.
"This won’t solve our major problem, but I might be able to figure out who was the witch in my family!"
"How?" Isaac asked.
"Someone traced my family tree a few years back," Annie explained. "It’s at home."
"Let’s go," Tay said.
"No, it’s safer if some of us stay here," Annie said. "Zac and I will go, and you two stay here. Call, telepathically, if you find out anything else. Try to get some more info out of Jen. What the place looks like. Maybe we can recognize it."
"Ok, see you soon," Tay said.
Annie grabbed Zac’s hand and they headed on over to Annie’s house.
"Here it is," Annie said. She was digging through a file cabinet drawer in her basement.
"Let’s bring them back to my house and study them," Zac told her.
Annie nodded and they headed back to the Hanson’s house.
‘Jen,’ Taylor thought. ‘Look around and tell me everything you see.’
‘Ok,’ Jen thought back. ‘The walls are…cement…the ceiling is really high and it’s like, metal beams. The place looks kind of like an empty car garage. Maybe that’s what it is. Could it be?’
‘From your description, it sounds like it could be.’
‘Ok…’ Jen thought, her hope growing.
‘When she comes back, try to get something out of her,’ Taylor thought to her.
‘Ok, can do.’
‘And Jen,’ Tay thought with all seriousness. ‘Don’t provoke her.’
Jen sighed and smiled a little. ‘I’ll try not to Taylor.’
‘Good,’ he replied. He paused, then added. ‘Jen, we will find you. I promise.’
‘I believe you, Taylor.’
‘I’ve got to go for the moment, I’ve gotta tell the others the news.’
‘Ok, talk to you soon.’
"Anything new Taylor?" Isaac asked.
"She thinks she could be in a car garage," Tay said. "She hears cars over her, she knows she’s underground, she says the ceilings are high, the walls are cement. It all fits together."
"That’s good," Zac said, coming into the room. "When do we start looking?"
"As soon as Keller comes back and then leaves again," Isaac said. "Any objections?"
They all agreed.
"Hey!" Annie said. "I think I’ve found it!"
She had been looking through her family tree books.
"Look," she said. "Emmeth Harman."
"So?"
"When he was a baby, he and his twin sister were lost in England. Nobody in the Night World ever found them. But any of their descendants are Witches, they just never knew it."
"Harman?" Isaac asked, looking thoughtful.
"What? You know someone with that last name?" Taylor asked.
"Well…Remember when Grandma gave us a family tree from Moms side of the family?" he asked.
"Yeah?" Zac said.
"Well…I think I remember seeing someone with the name Harman in there."
"Wait, are you saying we’re cousins?" Annie asked.
"I dunno…" Ike said. "Maybe very distantly."
"Here," Taylor said. He had gone and gotten their family tree. "Elsbeth Harman."
"Woah," Zac said. "That would make us, like, witches too!"
