Chapter Seventeen
"Great show, guys!" Stephanie congratulated the Boys as they stepped off the stage. Brian grabbed Stephanie and kissed her.
"You guys are disgusting" Nick told them.
"Thank you, Mr. Carter. I'll take that as a compliment" Stephanie grinned, pulling her boyfriend in for another kiss. Groaning, Nick turned his back on his best friend and walked into the greenroom to clean up before his adoring fans descended upon him.
Kevin watched Stephanie and Brian whisper and kiss. They were totally in love. Why couldn't he have a girlfriend like Stephanie, who could love him for him, and who could love him despite his schedule. He'd already asked security if anyone had claimed the backstage pass reserved in Randi's name and had learned that it hadn't been. Shaking his head despondently, he followed Nick into the greenroom. Face it, he told himself. She doesn't want to see you.
Howie watched Kevin walk away. "Hey, Kev, wait up!" he shouted and started after him. Kevin stopped to wait for Howie to catch up to him.
"Yeah, D?"
"Something bothering you, Train? You don't seem quite yourself," Howie asked.
Kevin laughed bitterly. "You figure it out D. But something tells me you already know what it is." With that, he left Howie and went to sit in a corner by himself.
At least I tried, Howie thought, shrugging his shoulders and going to talk to AJ and Nick.
